Many dances lave been .arranged to celebrate the flay. Some of the affairs will be given

before Christmas, but many will be held later. An important social function will be the annual Christmas ball of the Beta Phi Sigma, .which numbers among its members many prominent young men of the city. The affair will be held in the Pythian temple, and a committee composed of Messrs.' Paul Sherer.j Frank Bescher, Kent. Lemon and Horatio Land will be in charge: Wednesday after Christmas the Psi Iota Xi sorority will give its Christmas- party in the Odd Fellows' hall. An out-of-town orchestra will play. - The social committee of the Knights of Columbus will give a Christmas ball the Monday after Christmas in the Odd Fellows' hall. Runge's orchestra will furnish the music. This orchestra will play for a number of out-of-town dances. Many other parties are being arranged for the yuletide. Interest is manifest by the young people of the high school in the skating party to be given at the Coliseum Friday evening' by members of the Girls' Athletic association. Mrs. Philip Murray entertained the members of the Past Chiefs, Pythian Sisters, this afternoon at her home on East Main street. The rooms were decorated in keeping with the season. The hours were eper.t socially and with music and games. A luncheon was served. The Current Events club will not meet this week as the hostess has been called out of the city. The meeting will be held one week from Wednesday with Mrs. Fay Holaday. Sometime during the first week of January, either Wednesday or Friday, the Bocial committee of the Elks lodge composed of Messrs. Ira Wood. Charles Druitt and Thomas M. Kaufman will give its Christmas ball. Plans will be completed this week. The members and their families with sojourning members will be privileged to attend. Bridge has taken possession of society again, and a number of charming parties have been given recently. One of the important bridge parties of the week is the one to be given Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Elma Van Heusen at her home on North Fourteenth street.

Miss Alice Knollenberg, instrumental and Mrs. Fred J.

Miss Fay Marie Drake, of Trinity College, Washington, D. C. will arrive home Thursday and spend the holidays with her mother, Mrs. W. S. Clen-dennin.

Mrs. Omar Hollingsworth returned Sunday from Chicago, where she has been spending some ' time the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Quinn.
