SQUAD PROD TO IUIATE BITTER EfElY The high school team held a practice last night at the Coliseum in preparation for the New Castle game on Friday night. The team and the whole school are determined to win , this game. New yells are being rehearsed by the rooters while the drum corps holds daily practice. ; New Castle has lost two games this season, the first to Anderson at that place, and the second to Hartford City. . V;- . v; ' The visitors have four veteran players, among whom are Kampe and Gordon, " forwards; Lawson, center, and Ross, guard. The other guard Is new man. Kampe and Gordon are well known in this city for their ability as forwards. Lawson is a lengthy boy who in the game for district honors last year threw two field goals in the last few minutes, winning the game by two points. Little need to go into details as to the playing ability of Ross, New Castle's veteran guard. Chances Are Bright. Richmond's chances to win this game are Just as good as New Castle's, because Richmond has three veterans and the tact that the locals defeated Anderson while New Castle was defeated by them; however, the latter game took place on Anderson's floor. Porter and . Brown are Improving dally. Parker at center will have the strongest man on the team to. play against as all of the visitor's plays are built around the center. Pitts and Meranda at guard are two players in a elass by themselves when they are working right, and they surely will be working right Friday night. New Castle has an awful lump to swallow and the Richmond bugs don't think they will be able to get it down. ROOTERS PLAN TO MAKE TRIP WITH QUAKERS The Quaker basket ball team is hard at work, practicing for the next game which Is to be played at Muncie next Saturday night at the "Y." After that the team will train for the Em-Roe game to be played here on Monday night, Dec. 13. Because Clarence Hampton, the big guard' will not be able to make the Muncie trip).- Hort, formerly of Centerville high school, will accompany the team. Hort attended Indiana university one year and made the freshman squad there with ease. That the Muncie team defeated the "Y" last year by a larger score than the "Y" downed them is being remembered by several of the players who took part in these games. Muncie has almost the same team as last year. Spurgeon, star center on the high school team, will probably be in their line-up. The team will be accompanied by a large crowd of rooters. All persons desiring to go are requested to communicate with the manager. K. G. The idea is receiving considerable attention among business men of the city and a petition was circulated today which will be presented to the board of works asking for action. The proposal was first made by business men on South Sixth street. "An; auditorium for the use of any organization in the city, suitable for public meetings of all kinds, concerts and plays of all sorts, is a need that Is felt in Richmond," said Edgar I HIT. "The :entire lot from Sixth to Fifth streets could be utilized for this pur pose." ; Circulate Petition. The following petition was circulated today: To the Honorable Board of Public Works, Alfred. Bavis, president. We, the undersigned, citizens and taxpayers of the city of Richmond, Indiana, most respectfully ask you to consider the question of a new or improved market house and more up-to-date facilities for both producers, sellers and purchasers. We do most sincerely and earnestly desire that your honorable board take up the matter and give It careful consideration and free discussion and then act for the best interests of the public at large. Our observation has led us to believe that wherever municipal markets have - been established in. towns and cities they have been productive of much benefit to the public at large. Properly constructed and conducted upon broad lines, they have materially reduced the cost of living and given the patrons satisfaction in every way. When this project is taken up by your honorable body many new ideas will come up, for in the counsel of many there is wisdom. One of the newer crops is automobile corn, characterized in brief as any field full of weeds that have grown up while the owner was dashing about In his new motor car. "It the 'disqualification section of the primary law is still operative. March 7, next year, you can depend upon the. Many Progressives, not desiring to have any trouble, would make no effort to vote. -: Anxious For Big Vote. "Wayne county Republicans want to have as many-votes cast for their candidates at the primary nominating election' as possible. It is especially desirable to poll a heavy Republican vote at the primary to insure the nomination of Wayne county's candidate for the' congressional nomination, Judge D. W. Comstock.
