SOCIALISTS PUT SLATE IN FIELD FOR LOCAL JOBS
A party city ticket. Including a candidate for mayor, will probably be nominated by the local Socialist party. Prominent Socialists said today that
the party in Richmond is stronger than it has ever been. C. L. Summersori, one of the local leaders, said that a business man in this city, whose name he refused "to divulge, Is considering making the race for mayor on the Socialist ticket. It is known, definitely that the party will have a district and state ticket in the field. The local organization has not received notice of the time selected for making nominations for the state ticket. The nominations are made by locals, each one furnishing the name of a candidate. The candidate who receives the highest number of unit votes, and the candidates who follow in order, are then placed on a ticket and referred back to the local. Each local is entitled to one vote for every paid up member. This principal Is followed in making nominations for Congressman but the city ticket will be nominated at a convention. Allen Benson, of New York, has been nominated by Richmond Socialists for president of the United States and William Henry of Indianapolis, vice president. Several prominent speakers will be brought to Richmond the first of the year. George Goebel, national speaker, will be here in January. Anna Maley of New York, prominent Socialist worker, follow Mr. Goebel a week later.
GREECE WILL UPHOLD CAUSE OF ALLIES
ATHENS, Nov. 25. Greece will never raise a hand against the allies, declared Premier Skouloudis in an interview today. "First, Greece is neutral and will remain neutral despite all pressure, no matter what the source of it. Secondly, this neutrality will be maintained in the most friendly way." It is rumored here that Germany has asked Greece to demobilize, but is unconfirmed. In that event the cabinet may be obliged to resign. In that case M. Rballis would probably be asked to form a new government.
