RICHMOND WINS UPHILL BATTLE IN SMALL ROOM Connersville Bows Before Brilliant Attack of Brown and Porter First Half Ends 13-10.

After a bard struggle last night, the Richmond High school basketball team emerged from the game with Connersville victorious by the score of 31 to 22. Accustomed to a big hall, the locals were . somewhat handicapped by the small space in. which they had to work. Some idea of the size of the hall may. be. gained from the fact that there were only 200 people present at the game and that the place was ! Jammed. Richmond worked at a terrific pace, but they could not pull come of the best plays on account of the lack of room. Brown and Porter were the stars for Richmond while Gregg for Connersville played a desperate game. At -the - end of the first half the score was 13 to 10 in Richmond's ' favor and the boys left the floor with ' pretty serious faces for they could not afford to lose and they realized that ; they were ' playing against a strong II v under adverse circumstances. They entered the second half with determination, and soon had a commanding lead, but. not big enough to take any chances and they extended themselves to the limit. The score: Richmond. The EmRoes start their season here December 13. It would be bad for the state champs to get beat the first game in the season. St. Mary's Cadets are in the field again this year with a record of three games lost la four years. The high school team plays two out of town games this week. Be careful. Evidently New Castle is practicing harder this week than ever before. Now what is the reason? Football season will end this week and then basketball will start In earnest. That's better. The high school lads should have UPSTARTS DEFY STAR BOWLERS FROM A. S. IX The All-Star bowling team at the American Seeding Machine company is having its troubles. A squad of selfappointed star 3 has Issued a challenge to test the abilities of the first team. The winners of this match which is to be played at the "Y" Friday night have been called upon by another five to defend the newly won laurels Saturday afternoon. The following challenges have been issued: All Star No. 8: To Otten, Webber, Loofburrow, Sample and Ulrich. There is a reasonable doubt in the minds of many, of you being entitled to be known as "stars." You are, therefore, challenged to appear at the "Y" alleys Friday evening to prove yourselves stars or dubs. Self Appointed Stars, Bennett, Haner, Snyder, Ellis and Wells. President Byers: Learning that a movement is on foot to test the abilities of the All Star bowling team No. 8, by the selfappointed stars, and knowing each of these teams to be quitters, appleknockers and dubs, the real stars claim that they can knock more maples than the winners of the match, same to take place Saturday afternoon at 2:30, Nov. 27. The Real Stars, Rees, Weyman, Caldwell, McMinn and O'Brien. EARLHAM FIVE TRAINS Earlham's basketball plans are different from last year, according to announcement made by Coach Whiteside.
