STUBBY PILOT SURVIVES

1 i. ' : t i

' Pilot car w,ent over a wall Pilot car bad a great fan But it didn't take all tbe king's . Horses and all the king's men To get Pilot ear going again ; This Pilot "Sixty" was accidentally backed over a ten foot retaining wall at Ashtabula, Ohio. Unlike the principal of the traditional tale the subject of this story did not suffer disintegration as a result of the fall. - A team of horses and a block and tackle effected the rescue after which the big Pilot started away under its own power and with a load of five passengers negotiated a thirty per cent grade on "high." Mr. O. H. Smith of Ashtabula Har

bor, is the owner of the car and both before and since the accident a staunch Pilot "booster." in any event, the occurance is remarkable and shows beyond question the high quality of the material and workmanship in all Pilot models. Mr. Smith writing under date of November 10, to the Pilot Motor Car company says. "I am enclosing a photograph of m Pilot Sixty 'in the hole.' Also a photograph after it was pulled out and after we had made a thirty per cent grade on high with five passengers, my Pilot Sixty "In the hole.' Also a climb this bill on high up to that time. Since then, however, Mr. Borrlll has has done it with his filot Fifty-five. Please let me know how soon I can get one of your Pilot Six Forty-fives."

FORD SHOWS CLOSED MODELS FOR WINTER

The Ford' company has constructed a new- series of closed cars resembling those of last year excepting in price and that has been reduced 9200. They are building a five-passenger Sedan enclosed for $740.00 f. o. b., Detroit. The machine is ' utfhdlelef ed'ir clot' and the body Is built by the same firm that builds them for the high : priced cars and in the same way. - Another new machine is called tbe Coupelet and sells for $690.00. The tendency now Is toward closed cars with the winter coming on and these new models puts them within the reach of all motorists. Mr. Bethard of the Betbard Auto agency is very proud of the new car and will glady show the Sedan, one of which has just arrived, to anyone who calls at the garage.

AUTOMOBILE DEALERS PLEAD FOR MACHINES

Dealers of all makes of cars sold in Richmond declare that it is a continual fight to get cars from tbe factories and few of them are able to supply the demand. Spangler & Jones have sold their share of Chevrqlets up to February 1916 and expect' by January to have sold all their contract calls for for the entire year. They have already entered into a new contract and have doubled their order for next year's supply.

CARE OF BATTERIES IN WINTER MONTHS DEMANDS ATTENTION

Many car Owners are ignorant of the fact that a storage battery needs special attention in winter, even though he goes through the unpleasant experience of cranking his motor by hand on a cold morning because his self-starter won't work. If a man stores hie car in the winter, either on account of extreme cold or in more southerly latitudes, on account of bad roads, he cannot leave the battery without attention all winter. It should be kept fully charged and - full of distilled water Just as though in use. This protects the battery against freezing in cold climates and Insures its coming out in the spring in first class condition. Many owners prefer not to bother with this themselves, but simply take the batteryj. agogd service elation and"have'it cared forouring the winter at a nominal charge.

CARS USURP PLACE OF RAILROAD LINES

"Railroads for long pleasure trips are being replaced noticeably by automobiles," states J. Morris Jones, distributors of Central Auto section of the Hayes Light Six. "The summer of 1915 has seen many transcontinental tours by motorists, who have gained thereby, in seeing a far greater amount of scenery than if viewed along the railroad right-of-way. To meet the demand for such purposes automobiles must be constructed to withstand tbe usual stress and wear of road traveling and must embody comfort and ease to insure absolute pleasure to the passenger. The Light Sixes seem to meet this demand as being both powerful and comfortable.

The Republicans cant deny that they played politics in the appointment of rural route carriers, and why should they cry about it now? Women! It's Easy! Dry Clean With Gasoline-Save $5

Nothing shrinks, fade or wrinkles and a wash boiler will do nicely.

EXHIBITS OVERLANOS

The Talcott Sales Agency has twoj

new Overland models coming in next week. One of them is a big six cylinder and the other a smaller model with a lighter engine. Both machines will be on display at the showrooms.

cleaning find it very easy and inexpensive to clean and freshen all the ribbons, silks, satins, laces, yokes, furs, silk shirtwaists, kid gloves and shoes, neckties, children's clothes, suits, caps, Swiss, lawn, organdie and chiffon dresses, woolen garments, fancy vests, draperies, rugs, in fact, any and everything that would be ruined with soap and water. Get two ounces of solvite at any drug store and put it in two gallons of gasoline, where it instantly dissolves, then put in the goods to be cleaned, rub a little and out they come, looking as bright and fresh as new. You will find nothing fades, shrinks or wrinkles, requiring no pressing. You can do five dollars' worth of home dry cleaning in an hour at little cast. It is so easy and you can't make a mistake. Any grocery or garage will supply the gasoline and you can obtain two ounces of solvite at tbe drug store which is simply a gasoline soap, then a wash boiler or large dishpan completes your dry cleaning outfit. As gasoline is very inflammable be sure to do your dry cleaning out of doors or In a room away from fire or flame with the windows left open. Adv.

Instead of nasty, harsh pills, salts, castor oil or dangerous calomel, why dont you keep Cascarets handy in your home? Cascarets act on the liver and thirty feet of bowels so gently you don't realize you have taken a cathartic, but they act thoroughly and can be depended upon when a good liver and bowel cleansing Is necessary they move the bile and poison from the bowels without griping and sweeten the stomach. You eat one or two at night like candy and you wake up feeling fine, the headache, biliousness, bad breath, coated tongue, sour stomach, constipation. Or bad cold disappears. Mothers should give cross, sick, feverish children a whole Cascaret any time they are harmless and safe for tbe little folks. dv.
