COUNTY CO. ASKED TO VOTE S500J0R TEST The attitude of the county council on the advisability of building a new bridge at Main street will be deter

mined by action to be taken Saturday morning on an appropriation for 9500 to defray the expenses of making test bores in the foundation under the

present Main street bridge.

The appropriation of $500 for this purpose has been asked by the county

commissioners and will not only in

clude the expense of making bores for

the Main street bridge but also for the foundations at the prospective South Side bridge sites at South E and H streets. The action of the board will be an indication of the opinions of Its

members on construction of a new bridge, which has been suggested by a committee of experts. County Engineer Mueller informed

the commissioners that it would require at least 9500 to defray the expenses of these tests at the three sites which are being considered for the building of bridges. The county council has been called into special session for the consideration of this proposition. The board will also consider the. appropriation for the purchase of an automobile for use of the poor farm superintendent. MARINE BAND COMES HERE FRIDAY NIGHT

He said that one of the ( board members was unable to work because of serious illness and that, besides, he believed he waa duty bound to complete his term of service with the city of Richmond.- -. ..-..-i......-. Insists on Acceptance. Yesterday Mr. Bavls received another letter from the Webster City municipal bureau informing him that the epressions contained in his letter bad more than ever convinced them that he was the man for their city managership Job and Insisted that he accept the Offer, which, Mr. Bavls was in formed, would be held open for him for two months. v T definitely decided last night not to accept the offer," Bavls stated today. : The board president very reluctantIt discussed the offer he had received from the Iowa town. Today's Beauty Aids

To clear up and whiten the skin and secure that charm of pink, and white . juthful freshness so much desired by all women you will find it far safer to rely upon, a good face lotion rather than powder. To get rid of that shiny and muddy appearance in your, complexion, dissolve four; ounces oX.spurmax in one-half pint hot water, and add two teaspoonfuls glycerin. , Apply this to your face, neck and arms, rubbing gently until dry. This lotion does not show or rub off like powder and is much better. It is splendid for removing tan, freckles, pimples and sal-' lowness. You can make a delightful shampoo for a very trifling cost if you get from your druggist a package of canthrox and dissolve a teaspoonful in a cup of hot water. Pour a little at a time on the scalp and rub briskly. , This creates an abundance of thick white lather that thoroughly dissolves and removes all dandruff,, excess oil and dirt. After rinsing, the hair dries quickly, with a fluffiness that makes it seem heavier than it; is and takes on a rich luster and a softness that makes arranging it a pleasure. adv.
