OUT C9YS FAIL TO 811017 FORtJ . . Tea Much Confidence Mar Projrerx -When Team Cl With Winchester's . Unexpected Strength, f Disappointment tampered the Joy ot victory - last , nlsht When the Richmond high school basketball team defeated the, strong fceavy Winchester quia tet by ZOrt in the Coliseum before a crowd of Ave hundred persons. . - Several defects stood out, -which -would have spelled defeat In any of the Important same. ' The passing was inaccurate, the baH being thrown time after time Into the hands of an opponent. The .guards missed a number of passes and allowed their forwards te get away because they were watching the van instead of the balL With the exception of Captain Brown the team tailed to cover but played in bunch. The last half was slow, the referee failing- to force the players to keep p speed. ... t 8eor Ooneeale Oefects. : The score -would sot indicate all these faults : but tho play is much more important so far as future games are concerned. Had the team played
the passing game and shewn the teamwork ef which it is capable the score would have been larger. -; Porter and Brown had an off night missing several chances that looked good. Both boys fought hard, especial
ly Brown who deserted his post under
the basket and worked the floor breaking up Winchester plays.
Hardly had the game - begun before
Parker dropped in a nice shot. A number of attempts went wild before Rich-
nond could tally again. Then follow
ed the flash of play which showed the
true calibre of the team. For per
haps five minutes the passing was accurate and fast while the forwards found the baskets easily. During this
spurt, a commanding lead was gamed which stood the team In good stead.
Against a team from which stlffer
opposition is expected Richmond will play a better game. Failure to watch the ball and cover in this game will only serve to .strengthen the defense In future contests as the team and fans are determined that nothing shall prevent Richmond from gaining the district honors. Playing in their true form the boys have not a peer in the district. . Richmond.

This was near Overbrook Kansas, and early in the morning it looked so much like rain, we .hurriedly .packed up and pushed on. only to strike rain five miles ahead at a little town in the black soil called Scranton. LiOTORIilG PUDLIC ACCEPTS SIKES DECLARES QUICK'S SALEOtJ
.- The motoring public which is the court of last resort in all things having to do with motor cars has definitely accepted the six-cylinder motor car as the logical development In motor car manufacture stated J. W. Cameban, local agent tor the Butck, at the Auto Inn yesterday. The acceptance of this great truth Is practically unanimous and each passing day fortifies and strengthens the public's conviction of its complete wisdom and soundness. Until this year there waa a diversity of opinion as to the number of cylinders a good motor car should have Those motorists whose purchases were governed and directed by their own
mechanical knowledge knew, as far b'ack as three years ago, that the sixcylinder motor car would prevail ulti
mately. They knew this because their
knowledge of primary motor car me
chanics taught them that- absolute
smoothness of operation and absence ot vibration could bo obtained only in the six-cylinder motor. This, is advanced as one of the
reasons for the popularity of the Buick
and for its abiHty to get over the roads so much easier than the average car.

DRAYER TO OPERATE 10-CENT DOS LINES
The Quaker City Garage on East Main street has started an innovation that promises to become popular. They have installed a ten cent bus service and. manager E. R. Draver says that the public is taking to the idea in a very gratifying manner. Mr. Draver had two taxis on the streets during the past summer when the Jitney craze was at its height and declares that he lost money with the nickel hacks. Ho thinks the ten cent service should prove profitable and intends to give it a thorough try out. By telephoning to the garage an automobile will be sent to any address in the city and the passengers carried to their destinations within the city limits and all that will be charged for the trip is a dime.
VIGRAN ELECTED
The Richmond football team met last night at George Brebm's . and unanimously elected Sam Vigran manager of the eleven. The new manager will not accompany the team to Hagerstown tomorrow. "Red" Darnell will have charge of the boys.
