ML DAGilflTES SOFFEli SLUL7 JN 1915 PROFIT ; NEW YORK, Oct 2. The season Just closed u a lean one for most of the Baseball maaaates, Despite the close race In the National, American and Federal Leagues, - the losses of some of the clubs over balanced the gains of others, and those In close touch with the financial side of the diamond-game claim that each league, as a whole, lost money. " ; . The neck-and-neck race in the National League from the start of the season almost to the finish was the only thing that saved the entire league from a terrific ,- walloping ( financial walloping). I.-.---...----The closeness of the fight kept the crowd coming from the opening of the season until the first of October. However, the crowds did not come in the volume of other years and those clubs that made money showed profits that were very small In comparison with those made by the. winning club la other years. , ; ; '. ' Profits Take Slump. -The Phillies. won the pennant but their profits for the regular playing season did go much above $26,000. "We drew fairly well at home and la the east," said William F. Baker, president of the club, "but we lost money on every one of our western trips and we feel lucky In breaking a little ahead of the game." - ', Tbe Dodgers, owned by Charles Ebbots, made money for the first time In many years, due to the fact that they were runners up in the race from mid-season until the last week of the season. The Brooklyn's profits were around $20,000. Jim Gaffney's Boston Braves cleared about $15,000. They drew well throughout the season, but the top heavy ' salary list cut into Gaffney's profits. ; Despite the fact that they spent the major portion of the season trying to push out tbe bottom of the National League,; the . Giants : cleared about $66,000. Of this amount $15,000 came from, profits on a regular season and the other $50,000 came from rental of their park to the homeless Yankees. The Giants drew fairly, well at home put lost money on most of their western trips. . -v. GROtJIN BOWLS 201 FOR WINNING VETS The Vets made the krawlers look like amateurs at the City alleys last night when they won all three games in the Kaysee league race. Ross, Poundstone and Diddlebock, These two aggregations will surely put up strong games and when they do, notices of same, will be published.. That means that there will be light work for the sporting editors for they won't even have to keep the scores and there will be nothing to write about. Bad Complexions Are Now Easily, Discarded Every woman has it in her own vhands to possess a beautiful and youthful complexion. No matter how soiled, faded or coarse the cuticle,' ordinary mercolized wax will actually remove it, and Nature will substitute a skin as soft,, clear and lovely as a child's. Tbe action of the wax is not drastic, but gentle and agreeable. Minute particles of scarf skin come off day .by day. yet no evidence of the treatment Is discernible, other than the gradual complexions! improvement. One ounce of. mercolixed . wax. procurable at any drug store, suffices for most cases. It la put on at bedtime like cold cream end taken off in the morning with warm water. " It is a " certain method of discarding freckles, liver spots, moth patches; blackheads and pirnWrinkles can be treated with benefit by bathing the face in a lotion prepared by dissolving one ounce powdered saxolite in one-half pint witch hazel, i Instantaneous results are secured.

fish ai;d guii clud proposes to stock STREAKS OF COUNTY

The Wayne County Fish and . Gun club met last night and it was decided to drag the two ponds and stock the adjacent streams with about -25,-000 fish. The fish that will be placed in fresh waters -are about as , long as the fin ger, and according to experts are well able to take care of themselves. George DeukeV, Edward Cooper. William Kelley and T. P. Keplinger were named delegates to the convention of the State Fish and Gun club at Indianapolis,, Thursday at 2 o'clock. The association will meet at the Dennlson hotel and delegates . from all over the state will be present. - The local organization decided to lease Konllenberg's pond, in ' order that they might have a place in which to raise the younger fish, for with but two ponds they have not. been as successful as they wish. William Kelley, Edward Dickinson, T. P. Keplinger, George Deuker, O. A. Kemper and George Brehm were appointed a committee to look "the pond over and to see what Improvements are needed and this committee' assumed the financial obligations necessary, for the treasury of. the club is depleted. The club will start an active campaign for new members and every effort is going to be made to boost the organization. A shell weighing about Seventy pounds explodes into a shower of 1,200 pieces. r .
