FOREIGNERS CONTINUE TO DISPATCH RELIEF FOR FRIENDS ABROAD

Local people are not experiencing as much trouble in sending money to friends and relatives in Europe as was the case several months ago. An increase ; was shown in the number

. and amount of withdrawals from, the postal savings department at the postoffice and i this is accounted for by

Henry Deuker, finance superintendent

at the postoffice, by the fact that foreigners, who composed the bulk of the depositors, are sending money to relatives and friends in the war stricken countries. . Because of the interruption of the German submarine warfare, the Italians find that money sent to Italy Is forwarded much quicker than it was several months ago. An increase of $339 was made in the receipts of the postal savings department of the postoffice during the month of September, compared with August. The total deposits are $550 short of last September, however. There were 40 deposits made during the month and 13 withdrawals, totaling 91,113 deposits and $774 in with- , drawals. In the department there is $13,194 to the credit of the depositors. GLEAN LUNCH ROOM STARTED BY HULL
