WOMAN CAPTURES FUGITIVE RUSSIANS

BERLIN, Sept. 30. The hundreds of thousands of Russian prisoners employed as farm laborers in Germany are as a rule very content with their lot and i many of them declare that they do not like to return to Russia after the war. Although they are almost unguarded they seldom try to escape. Near Insterburg recently three of sixty prisoners who were working on a large farm disappeared and they could not be found by the two "land-

stunners" who acted as guards. The J

fugitives were finally discovered in a cornfield by Mrs. Hedwig Rosner, the wife of a gamekeeper. Instead of giving an alarm the resolute woman armed herself with one of the guns of her husband and, going to the fields, ordered the Russians to surrender. When the fugitives hesitated she tired a few shots to scare them. Then they threw up their hands. As the Russians were half starved the brave woman took them to her house, where she fed them before she transported them back to' the farm from which they bad escaped.
