The epistle to the London " yearly meeting read as follows, in part: "We feel sure that not only do your labors result in present alleviation of suffering in the war but that through blessing of the God they will aid in the reconciliation of the warring coqn- ' tries and tend toward establish permanent peace and good will. . "It is a matter of gratification to us that many Friends from this side of the ocean have been able to help by personal- service or financial aid. "We have been favored by the pres

Under the auspices of the Teachers' Federation of Richmond, of which Miss Whltacre is president, an Informal reception was held in the high school building last night to announce the opening of the art exhibit for 1915. Approximately 75 persons were In attendance. , A disappointing f ture in connection with this season s exhibit,, which will last until October 19, is the absence of a painting entitled, "The Man or Tomorrow," by Lillian Genth. tThe
f 2,000 canvas was last exhibited at Seymour. Ind.,.aad then sold. It will not be displayed here as a result. The exhibit this year is one of the best which baa ever been held in Richmond. The full color tone and variety of subjects form a combination which is pleasing and attractive to the eye. The exhibit will be open again on Sunday, afternoon and will remain open thereafter .each night until the close on October 19. Miss Myra Chainness is curator of the gallery. The public Is invited to visit the exhibit. . . -

William Tracer, colored, was fined $5 and costs in police court this morn Ing for assault and battery. Tracey was the aggressor in a fist fight with Walter Bass, colored, at a dance at Morton park . Wednesday evening.

Stubbs were selected to succeed" themselves aa Earlham- college trustees represent ins the Indiana yearly meeting by a sub-committee of which Timothy Nicholson Is chairman. The appointments made this morning were ratified by the permanent board which recommended the adoption of the report of the committee. . The meeting consented. 'The terms of the trustees expired this year.'; , v Leander Woodard and Elizabeth J. Hill were made clerks of the permanent board. '

AUTO TURNS OVER
MILTON, Ind., Sept. 25. A large auto belonging to the Linen company overturned north of town, along the canal. There Is not room to pass on the road and a little too much on one side causes an' accident. Request has been made that the 'commissioners look after it and hare a fence put up to prevent accidents. Only a short time ago an auto overturned In almost the same place and a woman suffered painful Injuries. ...... 'NO CHURCH SERVICE The Rev, A. J. Feeger will preach at the mission festival of the German Lutheran church at Evansvllle tomorrow. -There will be no service at St. John's and.the Sunday, school also will not convene.

Every member of the church and Sunday school is expected to be present.

The speakers of the evening were C. L. Cates of Marion, Harry Reeves of Richmond, Mrs. DeWitt Foster of South Marlon, and William J. Sayres of Muncie.
