POLITICAL SUi!DAY, III SPEECH Oil WAR
I Contending, that the United States ; vm In less dancer of being atucked imoV than it has been In the last .30 lyonr and that It will be a century i after the close of the European war before any foreign nation could recuperate enough to declare war, James Unthank of Richmond, delivered a speech before the Indiana Yearly Meeting of Friends yesterday afternoon. ' fie regarded as a fallacy the argument of military propagandists in the United - SUtes. , He , questioned the meaning of the phrase, "adequate protection" and declared that, taken literally, It meant the' construction of fortresses along the Atlantic coast. Pacific coast' and the Canadian and Mexican borders. Mr. Unthank was especially satirical in his reference to Theodore Roosevelt's philosophy of -carrying a? big tick and speaking in a whisper." He referred to the former president as . the. "Billy Sunday of American poli"The scheme of militarists in this country will plunge the -United States Into an enormous expense and fan the war spirit" ' At the close of Mr. Unthank'a speech Timothy Nicholson read - a letter he had received from Senator John Kern of Indiana, in which the writer, looked with disfavor upon the propoganda for increased ; armanents in the United States. ' The letter 1b to be published In the. American Friend. :- -

Next Monday,; Tuesday and Wednesday Everest's 'All Feature Show will be at the Gennett and from advance
notices received it would seem that this is one of the greatest shows of
its kind now traveling. ''- - -v - The ' feature : with ,.. the . show,, is of course Marguerite and her four lions but the balance of the - program con
tains the names of acts that with ordinary shows would be the big features. The company carries its own band and orchestra and 'travels r In its own special car and is every way an unusual meritorious production. Popular prices add to the attractiveness of this offering.
