In Ybis Column Will Appear Topics on the Equal Suffrage Cause.
With the great woman voters' . convention but three-weeks ahead, many distinguished men and women who are interested in this first political convention ever held by enfranchised women, are undertaking to help the Congressional union acquaint women with the meaning of the fight for the federal suffrage amendment. This week at a great mass meeting held on the grounds of the Panama-Pacific exposition in San Francisco a group of distinguished men and women gave their testimony as to the significance of the new suffrage battle that is going on in every state, suffrage and noneuffrage alike. Among the speakers were Hon. Marcus Marks, president of the Burrough of Manhattan, a distinguished New Yorker, mentioned in New York as the next mayor of that city; Miss Maude Younger, the writer and student of industrial conditions, who has Just returned to the coast after campaigning in New York and Pennsylvania; Supervisor Andrew J. Gallagher of San Francisco, in the coming race for mayor of that city; Marcus Cohen, commissioner to the Exposition from New Zealand, and others. Marks contended that the women the free states of - this country oweia duty to the unenfranchised. "Women of the voting states should become missionaries for the freeing of their sisters. "There! is no question in my mind but that suffrage is b matter for the federal government. J Aro women on a lower plane than the regio. There is no man who will not declare that the women of this nation aro on a higher plane than the BOSTON, IND. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pyle and family and Mrs. Hester Powell spent Sunday in Richmond. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis De Haven have left for Logansport, where they will reside. Roy Braltain is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Johnson, at Peru. HOW OOfOOOO MR. FLATHEAD! race which was liberated politically by the federal government. For my part I will spend my time whenever asked,, to explain why suffrage has ceased to be a state matter. The state and the national campaigns may go on side by side without Interference with each "other. We should stop considering . women beautiful slaves, make them the equal partners in our homes, and be proud to fight for their right to be considered in fact American citizens." THINK OF IT 30,000 Persons Publicly Recommend Our Remedy Some are Rich- -- mond People. Over one hundred thousand have recommended Doan's Kidney Pills. For backache, kidney, urinary ills, Thirty thousand signed testimonials Are appearing now in public print. Some of them are Richmond people. Some are published in Richmond. No other remedy shows such .proof. Follow this Richmond man's example: J. A. Williams, cigar dealer, 118 South Third street, Richmond, says: "Doan's Kidney Pills have done me a lot of good and I am glad to recommend them.. I took this remedy when I was suffering from backache ami weak kidneys and it stopped the trouble. Another of my family has used Doan's Kidneys Pills wittf satisfactory results." " . . Mr. Williams is only one ofmany Richmond people who have gratefully endorsed Doah's Kidney Pills. If . your back ache if your kidneys bother you, don't simply ask for a kidney remedy ask distinctly for Doan s Kidney Pills, the same that Mr. Williams had, the remedy backed by home testi mony. 50c all, stores.
