PATROL ON BORDER ASKS MORE TROOPS BROWNSVILLE, Texas, Aug. 26. United States military authorities, have appealed to Washington to Bend more troops to the Brownsville region, reporting that the 'troops now on the border are insufficient to deal with the situation caused by the continued raids' 6f armed Mexicans. ' 4 " ' A band of Mexicans has crossed the Rio Grande at Ranchera and another at Laisle. At last report they had effected a Junction and were proceeding in the direction of Fulfurrias. American troopers have be.en sent to prevent any attack on that town. A detachment of the Twelfth cavalry under Major Carter is pursuing the Mexicans. COACH OF HARVARD ROASTED AS ROOKIE PtatY mOughton rot-etna CAMP COT A great deal of good natured chaffing is heard in the business and professional men's military camp, Plattsburg, N. Y. Men of all walks of life, men who never did manual labor before in their lives are digging trenches, cleaning guns and other such duties as befall the regular soldier. Percy Houghton, the famus football coach of Harvard is a member of the rookie squad and came in for quite a bit of "kidding" from other members the other day when he spent an unusually long time in mastering the delicate machinery known as the regulation army cot. The man who has solved some of the most strategic football problems was compelled to work almost an hour to unravel the mysteries bound up in the sleeping appliance given him.
BRITISH RESPIRATOR TO FIGHT GAS FUMES
f3 v-fes. , . -. JL t-.
ZfV Vy L i Si fits Pi (M TO ft Mr. Harry Pilgram, an exchemical worker, has invented a new form of respirator for the British troops fighting against the gas using Germans in the trenches. His invention is the fruit of 18 years study in the bleaching powder business. At a recent test before war office officials he remained in a chlorino filled room for 30 minutes, by the aid of his respirator with no ill effects. The apparatus weighs but pounds and can easily be carried in the pocket. I ECONOMY I Mr. and Mrs. Norm Lacey and children returned to Richmond Tuesday evening. Mr. Lacey went fishing Monday afternoon and caught twenty-seven catfish and sunfish. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson and children were guests of relatives in town the first of the week. Mrs. Clara Downer of Dayton, O., is the week-end guest of Mrs. Mary Peterson. Mrs. Crawford is making preparations to move to Greensfork. Mrs. Luie Culbertson and Mrs. Jennie Veal ' and children returned from Richmond Tuesday evening after a few days visit with Mrs. Jennie Thornburg. ; Earl Conley has rented the Mrs. Cromer property for one year and she will go to Richmond to live with her daughter, Mrs. Julia Gibson. . Some of- the farmers on West River will make no attempt to thresh their Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. Few medicines have met with more favor or accomplished more good than Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. From a small beginning, its sale and use has extended to all parts of the United States and to many foreign countries. Everywhere it has received unstinted praise. We confidently believe that it has relieved more pain and suffering and saved the lives of more people than any other one preparation in use. One or two doses of it is enough to relieve an ordinary attack of colic or diarrhoea. It has been used in many epidemics of dysentery with perfect success. It is especially valuable for summer diarrhoeas In children. Every family should keep it at hand as attacks of cholera morbus often result fatally before medicine can be procured or a physician summoned. Obtainable everywhere. Adv. For Summer Complaints. "I cannot speak too highly of Cham berlain s Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy for it has been used by myself and husband for the past fifteen years and has never failed to give prompt relief." writes Mrs. Carrie Turner, Zanesville, Ohio. Obtainable everywhere Adv. Splendid for Constipation. "About a year ago I used a couple of bottles of Chamberlain's Tablets and found them to be a splendid remedy for indigestion and constipation," writes C. S. Colby, Holland, N. Y.- Obtainable everywhere. Adv. A Hint to the Wise is SufficientNo one can reasonably - hop for good health when his bowels, are: constipated. ' Take Chamberlain's Tablets and get relief. They are easy to take and pleasant in effect. Obtainable everywhere. Adv.
