Miss Barbara Kern Receives Callers and Friends on Her Ninety-third Birthday Anniversary.
Mrs. Anna M. Rothermel, 92 Years Old, Able to Greet Many Friends on Her Natal Day.
MILTON", Ind., Aug. 5. Friends and relatives are In receipt of cards stating that Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Atkinson, of South Bend, announce the marriage of their daughter, Pearl Elizabeth to Mr. Norman H. Raustead of Chicago. At home after September 1, Slvana, Washington. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Atkinson, who recently moved from Richmond to South Bend. She is also a gradudaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Atkinson of Milton. Miss Barbara Kern was 93 years old Wednesday. She was the recipient of many post cards, letters and flowers. 6he also received many callers who wished her the return of many anniversaries. Mrs. Anna M. Rothermel was 82 years old Wednesday. Many gifts were given her. She received many callers and says the day was a very happy one to her. Both Miss Kern and Mrs. Rothermel were born in Pennsylvania. The Purdue "Hog Special" will be on the Pennsylvania tracks at Cambridge City August 10. This will be of much interest to farmers in this vicinity as lectures will be given. The
hours will be from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. The management will demonstrate and exhibit. Thos. B. Lantz went to Shelbyville, 111., to spend Sunday with his son Ralph Lantz. Huddleston Wednesday. Mrs. Elmer Lowry entertained her nlecps, Misses Helen and Vivian Mncke of Lonantsvillo. Mrs. W. 11. Swope and daughter-in-law, Mrs. ina Swope, attended the funeral of M it,. W. H. Swope's brother, William Osbcrn, at Cambridge City Wednesday. Mre. Alice firesh entertained Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hurst of Detroit, and Mr. and Mrs. Park Lantz of Petoekey, also Misses Luella. NEW PARIS MEN VIEW EASTLAND AFTER DISASTER
NEW PARIS, Aug. 5. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. R. Daugherty have joined the ever increasing line of autoists, having a two passenger car. Word received from M. H. Pence and O. W. Sherer states that they viewed the Eastland death ship Monday and that 50 more bodies were recovered. Robert Marshall returned Sunday to Westerville, O., where he is assisting his father on a big cement contract. Russell Miller and boy friend of Covington, O., came through here Tuesday and visited local friends enroute to Richmond. Harry Daugherty has had the misforrune to lose another horse. Messrs. and Mesdames J. W. Reinheimer. D. F. Reinheimer, W. P. Mills, E. L. Reinheimer and family and E. C. Mikesell and family invited themselves to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Clark in the country Monday evening and spent a most delightful evening. An inspection of the new electric lighting system which Mr. Clark has installed in his home, was made after which refreshments were served, the guests taking a portion, and the daughter of the house, Miss Mildred Clark, surprising the surpriscrs with a portion. Miss Gertrude Colvin spent Sunday with Miss Esther Ashinger at Richmond. J. W. Reinheimer who has been with L. J. Reid for several years in the hardware store as clerk, tas severed his connection with Mr. Reid and after a vacation will take up other work. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sherer visited Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Sherer at Richmond Monday night, the latter family leaving Tuesday morning for a two weeks' visit with Mrs. Sherer's mother. Mrs. Leeh in Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Commons spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry McPherson at Eldorado. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Barton left for California Monday morning after a pleasant week's vacation-visit with Mr. Barton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Barton. Mrs. Glenn Noggle and son Ray of Oxford, U. S. CENTER VILLE BOARD LETS CONTRACT FOR REPAIRS TO SCHOOL CENTERVTLLE, Ind., Aug. 5 At a meeting of the school board yesterday, the contract for furnishing coal for, school purposes for the year was let to Dunbar Bros., the contract for redecorating the walls of the laboratory and halls was given to Charles Capellar. The vacancy that has occured on the teaching force will be filled later. A number of applications are on file. At the election of officers no change was made. H. H. Peelle retains the presidency, Mrs. Lenna King, secretary and Leroy Kimmey treasurer.
