GALLED FROM BED; BOY SHOOTS FATHER CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind., July 29. A serious shooting affair occurred at the borne of Tlce Hollingsworth on east Church street on Wednesday, morning. When Mr. Hollingsworth called his son to get out of bed and ready for breakfast, the latter drew a revolver, and shot the father, the bullet lodging near the thigh bone. The elderly man is greatly weakened from the loss of blood, but it is thought that he will recover, if complications do not present themselves. The only reason given by the Hon for the shooting was, that he did not wish to be disturbed. He has not been arrested. ... ROOT OPPOSED TO SUFFRAGE i0T ;ClriHJ. 'jiboT Argument between the woman -suffragists and their opponents regarding the attitude of former Senator Elihu Root toward votes for women, brought out the statement from the opposition, backed by written matter from Mr. Root, designed to show that he stands now as firmly against suffrage as he did in the constitutional convention of 1894. Three notes are Quoted from him to show that his views have not changed. One of the letters quoted was written in January, 1914, to Alice Hill Chittenden, president of the Antis organization in this state, in which Mr. Root wrote: "I have not changed my opposition to woman suffrage in the least; on the contrary, observation and reflection fcave strongly confirmed the adverse opinion which I expressed twenty years ago." 1389 A Pretty Shirt Waist. Ladies' tucked shirt waist, with yoke and sleeve in either of two lengths. White batiste is here shown. The style is good for crepe, ratine, organdie, lawn, for taffeta, tub silk or pique. It is a pretty style with the new cross tucks. The sleeve may be finished in wrist or elbow length. The neck opening is cool and comfortable, with tiny reverse fronts and rolled collar. The yoke is also new, and the full fronts and back make this style ideal for slight figures. The pattern is cut in 5 sizes: 34, 36, 38, 40 and 42 inches bust measure. It requires 2 yards of 315inch material for a 36-inch size. A pattern of this illustration mailed to any address on receipt of 10c in silver or stamps.
