Mrs. George Le Boutilller gave a : prettily appointed luncheon today at , her home on South Fifteenth street. Mr. and Mra. Rush Bowman, who are residing in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, are the proud parents of a baby ' son. A telegram announcing the birth of the child was received this morning by Mr. Bowman's mother, Mrs. Edward Bowman of South Twelfth street. Their many - friends .in this city are glad to extend congratulations. Both mother and child are doing well. The members of the Coterie club will be entertained Thursday after noon by Mrs. Richard Sbute and Mrs. Mattie Kelsey at their home on the National Road, East. All members are invited to attend. Miss Meta Brown has returned from a pleasant vacation with Miss Hazel Piper at her home in Columbus, Ohio. Miss Piper is a former resident of this city. Miss , Sarah Krlng, who has been visiting her unacle and aunts at their home on North Sixteenth street, has returned to her home in Fountain City. An ice-cream social will be given Saturday evening on the beautiful lawn at the North A Street Meeting House by the young people of the meeting. Home made cake and icecream will be served. The affair will begin at 7 o'clock. If the weather ia inclement the guests will be served indoors. An Important business meeting of the Progressive Literary society will be held this evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur King, 201 South Fourteenth street. It is urgent that all members attend. A successful dancing party was

given last evening in the pavilion at Morton park. A similar function will be held again next Thursday evening.

Community night will be observed from 7:30 until 9:30 o'clock at Central Christian church. Woman's Relief Corps meets In Post room at court house. New Idea Sewing Circle meets. Mrs. Robert Nohr entertains members of a euchre club. Mrs. George Steinkamp hostess for meeting of Helping Hand society. Mrs. B. D. Welch hostess for meeting of an auction bridge club. Coterie club meets with Mrs. Richard Shute and Mrs. Mattie Kelsey at their home on the National Road, East.

An important meeting of the Aid society of the Whitewater Friend's church was held Tuesday afternoon at the church. After the business meeting the hours were spent at needlework. The weekly card party held last evening In the Moose hall was largely attended by the members of the lodge and their friends. Cards were played at several tables. The wives of the members enjoyed a party this afternoon in the lodge rooms. A pleasant meeting of the Princess Card club was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. James Hart on North Seventh street. Mrs. Roy Dye was a guest of the club. The highest scores were made by Mesdames A. G. Kofskl, and E. Thornton Hall. After the game a delicious luncheon was served. In two weeks Mrs. A. G. Kofskl entertains the club at her home on North A street. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert C. Flint and daughter Miss Leah, of Rushville, are tr.e guests of friends and relatives in this city, for a few days. Misses Anna Billa and Sylvia Sparks of near Connersville, with Messrs. Fritz Brown and Paul Gottman of Rushville, motored to Richmond and enjoyed a picnic party at Glen Miller park. The young people of near Whitewater held a picnic in Glen Miller Sunday. Those who enjoyed the suprer were Misses Ruby Timmons, Ona Williams, Bernice Little, Esther Hogan, Iva Teaford, Messrs. Herschell Papaw, Warren Bogan, Artie Teaford, Walter Coblentz and Andrew Bogan. Fifty persons thoroughly enjoyed the picnic given last rvening in Glen Miller park by the members of the Social Aid of the Reid Memorial Presbyterian church. The special guests of the occasion were the husbands

and families of the members. The The women went out early in the afternoon. Supper was serve 1 at 6:30 o'clock. This is the last meeting of the Aid until early fall. The Live Wire Class of the Second English Lutheran church will give a lawn social this evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dietemeyer, corner Third and Kinsey streets. Ice-cream, punch, homemade cake and candies will be on sale. The Parcel post sale and bazaar to be given last evening at the Earlham Heights Presbyterian church, by the members of the Dorcas society has been postponed until August 18.

Miss Miriam Krone has returned from New Castle, where she has been visiting Miss Janet Millikan. The girls attended Maryland college last year. Mrs. Harry Field will return to her home in Chicago Thursday after a pleasant visit .with Mr. and Mrs. LM. Brownell at their apartments in the Cornell. Mrs. George Arnold was hostess Tuesday afternoon for a pleasant meeting of the Ladies U. C. T. social club at her home on North D street. There was a large attendance of the membership. The rooms Were prettily decorated in yellow and white. Great clusters of golden-glow added to the attractiveness of the appointments. After a short business session a social hour followed and the guests enjoyed a walk in Glen Miller park. Refreshments were served, the color scheme yellow and white being carried out. The hostess for the next meeting will be announced later. Messrs. Harry Smith and James Medlin went to Connersville last evening and attended a Phi Delta Kappa fraternity dance given at Glen Bush, a summer dancing pavilion near Connersville. The guests were Misses Ruth Scott of Cincinnati, Harriet Dickinson, Alice Griffin, Mary and Marguerite Highley, Grace Smith, Elizabeth Ireton, Mary Males, Alta Wilcoxen and Arva Jackson. The East End Aid society of the First Christian church met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Hiatt at her home on South Thirteenth street At the business session plans were made for an Ice-cream social to be held August 11 at the home of Mrs. J. A. Vossler, 506 North , Sixteenth street. Refreshments were served and a social hour followed. A called meeting of the society will be held Friday evening at the home of Miss Belle Scott on North Fifteenth street. A card party will be given Thursday evening in the Eagles' hall for members of the lodge and their wives. Mrs. J. P. Hill leaves tonight for Rochester, New York, and other point3 in the east. " A birthday surprise was given Mrs. O. F. Ward last evening at her home on South Sixteenth street, by about twenty friends who came with wellfilled baskets. The hostess was showered with congratulations. Supper was served picnic fashion. The evening was spent playing cards. Mrs. Nichols, Mr. Clifford Nichols and Miss Mary Nichols of Clyde, Ohio, are the guests at the Wood home in Spring Grove. Mrs. J. N. Hasty of North Twentyfirst street, left this morning for a visit with friends in St. Louis and Terre Haute. Mr. Fred Bayer has returned from a visit with Mr. Bayer's sister in Chicago. Miss Margaret Foohney of West Creighton street, is entertaining Miss McManus of Richmond, Indiana. Fort Wayne News. Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Park of East Main street, leave Thursday of next week for an extended trip through California, Washington and other states. At San Francisco Dr. Park will attend the National Dental convention. They will be gone several weeks. Miss Freda Seifert has returned from a visit with friends in various parts of the state. Mrs. Leach of Eaton, O., is the guest of Mrs. Frank Vossler at her home, 131 South Eleventh street. Dr. and Mrs. E. H. Mendenhall of South Seventh street, and Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Martin of South Thirteenth street, have returned from an extended automobile trip in the Mendenhall car. They visited at Niagara Falls, Thousand Isles, returning by way of Pittsburg and Wheeling. The Home Economics Study club of District Number 6 held its postponed meeting Tuesday afternoon at the home "of Mrs. Nathan White. Mrs. White was assisted in entertaining by her daughters, Mrs. Martha Hensel and Mrs.: Merle Tittle of Richmond. The looms were arranged with garden flowers and ferns.
