LACK OF LIGHT ON LAKE SHORE AROUSES. KICKS Visitors at Morton Park t Complain of Dangerous Conditions Many Visit Resort. The hot wave of the last few days haa driven hundreds of people nightly to wed -covered Morton park, . and loud and numerous have been the complaints registered because of the condition of the grounds, and the almost tout absence of electric lights except in the vicinity of a small open air dancing pavilion, which, incidenally, is one of the most popular places of amusement in the city. It was also learned today that no officer is now on duty at the park, tile special policeman for the park, Ben Engelbert, having resigned because of the red tape connected with the payment of his salary. "Engelbert said that he had to see about eight officers of the park company before drawing his pay," one of his friends said today. Frequenters of the park after nightfall risk their limbs if they attempt to wander far from the vicinity of the

pavilion, for the few paths are rough and circuitous, and it la Impossible for a person to see more than a foot ahead. . Boating at night when there is no moon is hazardous for no lights skirt the lake shores. Launches feel their way about the lake cautiously with the beams of their headlights ' playing about in all directions to avoid col liding with rowboats and canoes. No effort is being made by directors of the park company to improve conditions. The grass la not even kept, trimmed. It is the general opinion of people who frequently visit the park; that with the expenditure of a few thousand dollars Morton park would become one of the most popular recreation places in this section of the is no direct street car service to the park, but this has not prevented hundreds of people visiting it every week this summer, the jitney buses doing a land office business. It has been suggested to the officers of the company that they abandon the policy of permitting amusement concessions to locate only in the eastern section of the park, and to encourage them to locate in the southwest section of the grounds. If bathing were permitted in the vicinity of the dam patrons of the park would be greatly pleased. Also a few benches, wellkept sod and quite a few electric lights would make a decided hit.

YOUNG MADERO WEDS WHILE ON PAROLE

LOS ANGELES. July 16. General Jqjlo Madero, younger .brother of the late former president of Mexico, and Miss Carmen . Garcia, of , Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, were married here today. Madero is a general in the army of General Carranza. Me was captured recently by General Raoul Madero, a brother, who serves in General Villa's army. He was paroled by his captor for the wedding, and must return as a prisoner of war in a few days.
