. initn. twro on THI ENGLAND NEEDS MEN TO COMPLETE ARMY LONDON, July 13.It Beema to bare ben definitely settled that England will not alter the policy of enlisting married, men into her armies, despite the opposition that has arisen in the house of commons and in the newspapers. The war office has made a definite reply to the men who have put the question in parliament, and it practically tells them that no Interference with .the present plans will be tolerated. The system of recruiting In Great Britain always has been to take an applicant for enlistment without questioning him as to bis domestic encumbrances. This has not been changed since the war started, and has led to some cases of distress which caused public outcry. These fases the war office will leave for the civil authorities to deal with while the men are t the froqt. It seems quite certain that were it not for married men entering the army it would be almost Impossible to tilt up the ranks that now are gapping for men, and it is men that the nation neds most, according to army and navy officials.

JtfST WHAT I WO fcC BRAVE AN I'LL AFTER MAK1NV A FE.W PAYS MARTINDALE DAMAGES ON CAR An echo of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway race on May 30, was heard in Justice Strayer's court this morning, when Clarence Loebig of Dayton, O., was ordered to pay $100 damages to Voyle Martindale and $125 to the Auto Inn for repair work. Loebig, returning from the races In a racing car, ran into a machine driven by Martindale, it was alleged, and damaged both Martlndale's car and his own car. No one was injured in the collision. LEAGUE IN BRITAIN LOOKS AFTER DOGS LONDON, July 13. One of the curious activities called forth by the war is that of the National Canine Defense League, which finds that many soldiers and sailors , have to leave doks behind when leaving for the scene of hostilities, and takes care of these derelict pets. The secretary of the league said today it had spent $4,500 on the dog war fund and was getting many letters of appreciation from the front. Many people suffer from ennui, but think of the man who, when told he must go to the rack, remarked: "Ob, well, it will help me pass an hour or two!"
