BOARD DECLARES WAR ON VERMIN BROUGHT TO CAPITAL OF CITY
A declaration . of . war was signed this . morning at the city building by members of the board of public works. -. Hostilities were entered into by the city government, under the terms of this act, against an army of bedbugs which has seized T and - occupied the municipal capital. - It is probable that the first act will be a complete disinfecting of the big building, ; even If it , is necessary to practically close : it up , for a day.. It is intimated that wives of certain administrative officers, . policemen and firemen were directly responsible for the action taken by the? board U of works today. It is known that - the wife of one - official bluntly informed him that he would be banished from
his own home unless some drastic procedure against the city hall bedbugs was promptly taken, and it is hinted that similar edicts have been issued by wives of other city employes. The pests were brought to the building last winter by the hoboes who were sheltered in the basement. Apparsntly most of these pests basely abandoned their masters during their occupancy of the basement. A squad of firemen was engaged today battling with the enemy in their sleeping quarters and the janitor has opened hostilities in police headquarters.
