CONDEMN RED GROSS OFFICER AS SPY

LONDON, July 6. The rigor of England's censorship in the effort to keep valuable information from the enemy haB resulted in the fining of a Red Cross officer and the sentence to imprisonment of his German-Swiss companion on the charge of trying to dispose of naval secrets. This prosecution is understood to have had to do with the sale , of pictures and is one of the causes that has led up to a general order that no cameras are to be taken to the front in the future even by those holding commissions in the army. The passing of photographs from the front when sent by officers in private mail has caused to be printed many pictures that could not . have been "put over" by a news photographer and the camera amateurs at the front must all see their instruments go into interment.

ITALY USES SHIPS

LONDON. July 6. The intervention of Italy has released for use by that country over 200,000 tons of enemy ships, and this undoubtedly ease the chartering market some. Conditions are, however, abnormal owing to so many vessels being required for transport and other purposes. The result is that the price of steam tonnage Is still on the increase, and to make matters 'worse, the building of merchant ships is now almost at an end.
