STEAMER SENT DOWN. CROOKSHAVEN, July 2. The British schooner L. C. Towers which sailed from Nova Scotia for Newport on June 1 was sunk by a German submarine off the Irish coast early today. More than a third of the total area of Holland lies below sea level. city authorities in Chicago, and plans are being made to move South Water Street to a place where the delay that causes spoilage can be eliminated. Today, strawberries, oranges, cabbage, lettuce, butter, eggs and other products are all delayed in getting to the congested produce district, which happens to be just four blocks from the busiest corner in the world. Even South Water Street merchants realize their bad situation, and are seeking a remedy.

COMMERCIAL LEAGUE ARGUES OVER STARS The Commercial league at its meeting last night drew the lines a little closer as to the eligibility of participants in the league. The only rules boasted of by the league are honor rules, and no player shall be allowed to play with any team unless he be either a member of the team as listed by the manager or unless he be permitted to play by the opposing manager. Quite a controversy arose over a few of the players on the respective teams with the result that the Press was awarded a new man, and Saunders of the Post Feds was given to the bankers to take his place. Saunders is a clouter of no mean ability in the ranks of the Commercial league, and his hitting should add much strength to the "Grab-a-nickles." Because of the fifth being a holiday the game scheduled between the Kremos and Post Feds was postponed until Tuesday.
