What Will Be the Harvest? Perhaps 10(5,000 boys and girls have graduated this spring from the colleges and high schools and are about to figure in the future ac
tivities of the country. . . How much this great body of "young men . and women should affect American; purpose and sentiment ! How much better the world should be now than it ever was before! But all; this depends upon the sort of education they got. If ; it was simply knowledge, skill and literary, taste that was added to their lives, the world will go on pretty much as it has, without feeling the slightest impulse from their presence. If it is the old race for pleasure, a zeal for getting rich, a display of the old selfishness,
all the work of the educational institutions will

May these youth, go forward prepared to suffer and sacrifice for the truth of life, to take in a broader vision of duty than the world has now, to show that "humility PresidentWjlson spoke of which is the best sign of culture, to cut away from the mere show and tinsel of life, its vanity and extravagance, and stand for that simplicity of livine which is the
best representative of truth, the best exponent of

The New York city bureau of weights and measures is going after the short weight artists, and going after them in an entirely new way. The top picture shows Mrs. Ursula White of the bureau of weights and measures explaining a modern computing scale to a housewife, so that the latter may learn to read the scale for herself when purchasing family supplies at her grocer's. The lower picture shows an actual dishonest scale unearthed by the bureau recently. The wire and weights below in the old wood box had cheated the purchasers in this dealer's neighborhood out of several hundred dollars before his perfidy was unearthed.
