WAR FOR FIFTEEN MONTHS IS REPORT MADE TO WILSON
WASHINGTON, June 17. There Is email prospect ' of . peace In JSurope short of fifteen months. This is the gist of the report that has been made to the president by E. M. House, after personal Investigation at nearly all the European capitals. It is not understood that Mr. House would discourage the administration from continuing to seek an opportunity to be helpful in the restoration of an early peace, but he Is of the opinion that nothing is likely to come of peace movements within the next year. Mr. House's report was forwarded to President Wilson on his arrival in New York. It is understood by the report that all countries involyed in the war would like to see the conflict ended at once.
ADVERTISESHIMSELF NEW YORK, June 17. Be your own want ad. column seems to be the latest fad down in the Wall street district, where there are this summer many Idle men looking for work. Today a well dressed man about 35 years old was seen in Wall street, carrying a huge banner, saying: "Wanted A position. Can speak and write German, Italian and French fluently. Ten years in the export trade. Advertising expert."
The longest time on record for which a swimmer has remained under water is 6 minutes 29 4-5 seconds.

Ask Old Clothing for War Captives In Distant Siberia
The number of German and Austrian prisoners of war in Siberia now exceeds 100,000. One need not be amazed at the large number, for when Prezmysl fell, thousands of Austrian a were captured by the Russians. Thousands of civilians were carried into captivity when the Russians invaded East Prussia, and the capture of thousands of German soldiers could not be averted. Just as the Germans were able to capture large number of Russians, so the Czar's troops were able to capture German troops, although in small numbers. This is part of the war game. The Austrian and German soldiers and the non-combatants were sent to Siberia, so that now thousands of German and Russian women and children from East Prussia, Galicia and Poland are in this country. In the prison camps, typhus, cholera, dysentery and contagious diseases are making frightful ravages among the women and children, while the Russian authorities are doing little to alleviate the situation. This is partly due to the
fact that the Russians are unable to help because they themselves are in need. To alleviate the condition, medicines, clothing, underwear and money are needed. Inasmuch as the call ha been extended from the German consul at San Francisco, it is requested that clothing, shoes, underwear, etc., be sent to the German House, Turk and Polk streets, San Francisco, Cal., care of Henry Willweber. Gifts of money will be accepted by Hans Koll, this city, and sent to the German consul at Cincinnati. It is requested that all gifts be marked Siberia. The German embassy at Washington guarantees that all shipments, including clothing, will reach the destination. Persons in Richmond, and Wayne county who wish to help are asked to send old clothing, underwear and shoes to Will Duning, 43 North Eighth, and Will Duning, South Sixth and- E street. No summer clothing can be used. '
LEARNS GAME OF WAR AT AN EARLY AGE
ROME, June 17. When Lieutenant General Luigl Cadorna, chief of the Italian general staff, was ten years old he entered the military college of Milan. His distinguished father, General Count Raffaele Cadorna thought
it none too young, but the son often
recalls that one of the cells set apart for young offenders was so cold that in the winter months the soup, which was the only sustenance of the pun
ished, often froze.
In ten years, Barry, one of the dogs of the St. Bernard hospice, saved no less than forty lives.

THOUGHT HE HAD CHRONIC DYSPEPSIA
But Now Eats Corned Beef, Cabbage, Pork, Onions and Mince Pie for Dinner and Never Feels a Pain. Do you belong to the "No, thank you" society of the Sinner table where the mere sight of certain foeds makes you feel that pain you know would be yours if you ever ate them? What a weak, easily upset stomach really needs is not a digestive aid but a stomach strengthener. Any reliable physician will tell you it's dangerous to continually dose the stomach with pepsin digesters and the like. His own prescription will act on the stomach instead. No physician ever wrote a better stomach prescription than that embodied in the famous MI-O-NA Stomach Tablets that Thistlethwaite's 4 stores in this vicinity sell with the positive guarantee that they must put a complete and lasting end to stomach misery or money back. Mi-o-na strengthens the walls and muscular fibres of the stomach and induces prompt normal working of your own stomach machinery. It gives relief in ten minutes to all the common and uncomfortable symptoms of sour rising, gas, belching, burning, bloating, shooting pains, etc., and in a few weeks will put the stomach in such a clear and perfectly healthy condition that it
can digest a typical New England boiled dinner without the slightest effort or distress. Mi-o-na Tablets comes in regular 50c size boxes and are sold the Thistlethwaite Way

The Oriental dream of fancy has become an almost literal truth. Through the combined efforts of science, art and industry, Jap-a-lac was created and Jap-a-lac performs the heculean task of making old things new every day that passes, not in one or two places, but in thousands and thousands of homes the year 'round.
