Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bundy and daughters, were visiting friends and relatives in Greenfield and Pendleton, Ind., returning by way of New Castle. They were overtaken by a severe storm and narrowly escaped an accident by a falling tree ahead of their machine. Mr. and Mrs. WilMam Hlpperd and family visited Mr. and Mrs. George Kelly of the Kelly hotel. Clinton Cain of Dayton, O., visited hlB parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Cain, here recently. Milton Woolley was in Richmond Monday. CARLOS, IND. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Scantland of Lynn, spent part of last week with W. A. Oler and family. Mrs. Bertha Lee and daughter of New Castle visited relatives here last week. An auto truck line from Carlos to Winchester was started last week. Mrs. John Beard visited her parents at Economy one day last week. Harold Hutchins is home from school at Muncie. Mrs. Harry Swain, Josephine Gordon, Mrs. Ida Wadman and daughter Mildred, and Logan Hunt and family attended Children's day exercises at Morgan Creek Sunday evening. Miss Mildred Courtner will preach here Sunday morning. Mrs. Grace Reynard and children have returned to their home near Muncie, after spending a week with relatives. Sir Edward Grey is the first British foreign -minister to sit in the house of commons since the day of Palmerston. . SALE OF BONDS. Department of Finance. Office of City Controller. Richmond, Ind., June 9, 1915. Sealed bids will be received by the City Controller of the City of Richmond, Indiana, until 12 o'clock m. on Wednesday. June 30, 1915, for the whole or any part of fifty thousand ($50,000.00) dollars of the bonds of said city, issued and sold for the purpose of paying the city's portion of the permanent street Improvements, for an Aerial motor ladder truck for the fire department of said city, and for the further purpose of procuring money to be used in the legitimate exercise of the corporate powers of such city, and for the payment of its corporate debts. Said bonds will be designated, "First Series -1915," and will be dated July 1, 1915, and will be numbered consecutively from one to one hundred, Inclusive; and those numbered from one to twenty, inclusive, will become due and payable on the first day of July, 1917; those numbered from twenty-one to forty, inclusive, will become due and payable on the first day of July, 1918; those numbered from forty-one to sixty, inclusive, will become due and payable on the first day of July, 1919; those numbered from sixty-one to eighty, inclusive, will become due and payable on the first day of July, 1920; and those numbered from eightyone to one hundred, inclusive, will become due and payable on the first day of July, 1921; and each bond will be of the denomination of five hundred ($500.00) dollars, with interest coupons attached thereto; and will bear interest at the rate of four per cent. (4) per annum, payable semi-annually, on the first day of January and the first day of July of each year. The first coupon on each bond will become due and payable on the first day of January, 1916, and will be for the interest on each bond from date of issue to said first day of January, 1916, and both principal and interest of said bonds are payable at the office of the Dickinson Trust company in the city of Richmond, Indiana. Bids for the purchase of said bonds shall be endorsed, "Proposal for Bonds, First Series 1915," and directed to the City Controller, Richmond, Indiana. The bidders may bid for all or any part of said bonds, and they shall state definitely the number of bonds bid for and the gross amount they will pay for such bonds and accrued interest, if any, to date of transfer. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check upon some responsible bank or trust company and payable to the order of Albert N. Chamness, city treasurer, for a sum of money equal to two and one half per cent. (2) of the face or par value of the bonds bid for or proposed to be purchased, as an evidence of the good faith of such bidder and ,as a guarantee that he will receive and pay foi all bonds awarded to him under his bid. . The bids or proposals will be opened by the City Controller at his office on the 30th day of June, 1915, between the hours of 12 o'clock, m., and 2 o'clock p. m., and said controller will thereupon award said bonds, or if he shall see fit a part therof to the highest and best bidder or bidders therefor; but said Controller shall have the right to reject any and all bids or proposals, or any part thereof, and shall have the right to accept a part

He may also if he deems best award a part of said bonds to one bidder and a part to another, but in no event shall any of said bonds be sold for less than par.
