STATEMENT OF GRAY STIRS SARCASM OF GOtlNERSVILLE NEWS Commenting editorially on Congressman Gray's statement on the International situation, the Connersville News says: "That interview or additional statement which Finly Gray promised to give the Richmond Palladium, had its birth, as promised. But the world would have missed little had Finly 6aved his paper and thought, for, as usual, he remains on the top rail of the fence and squarely in the center. In a mountain of words he cautions everybody to say nothing, in chorus, and thus emulate his own illustrious example. He does says that the country is to be congratulated pn Its president and , secretary of state, on being the right men in the right place during the present threatened crisis. If Finly has any inside information showing that Mr. Bryan is doing anything worth while, or is even permitted to direct any part of the international controversy, he seems to have scooped the Washington correspondents. On one point all will agree with Mr. Gray, who says that the country is to be congratulated because congress is not in session. But that might apply to all periods alike with equal force. Finly has a sort of creepy feeling that the 'impassioned speeches'

of some congressmen might start

something. If all congressmen are like
