MASONS PRESENTED
WITH LODGE SASH
J HAGERSTOWN. lad., Jane 8 t a meeting of the Masonic lodge Friday night the fraternity was presented with an ancient and raluable relic of Masonry in the form of a sash and apron, the kind the. kind that were used in Mount Vernon lodge at the time that George Washington was master of the lodge. The sash and apron were brought to Hagerstown by George Castator in 1600. After his death thev were ivn
to A. S. Wiggins, the first master of Hagerstown lodge and last charter member. They descended to his son George Wiggins of Union City who. at his fathers' request was to present them to - the Hagerstown lodge, but George Wiggins passing away before fulfilling the request, they were turned over by J. M. Stover. At the same meeting work In the Master Mason degree was conferred upon Howard Gwlnn. A three course luncheon was served to visitors from other towns and to local members.

SOCIETY CONVENES The members of the South West Richmond Improvement Association met . in regular session last night. Rou- . tine matters were discussed but as all members were not present and nothing of importance was brought up, the meeting adjourned early.

' Grant Forrest and wife and Jerry Horn and wife shopped in Richmond Saturday evening. The Victor Comedy Co. will present the play, "Teddy the Runaway," at the local opera house, July 3. The cast is composed of the following members: Maud Slarp, Fae Southard, Geneva Rudicel, Ruby . Downing, Ora Mikesell, Harry and Jack Downing, Ralph Slarp. Cliff Pitman. Hobart Mikesell and Orville Southard. Mrs. Mary Wright of Richmond has returned after a several weeks stay here during which she nursed her sister, Mrs. Horn, through her last!
sickness and death. The local band will go to New Madison today to play for a lot sale tonducted by the Gerhart brothers. Clarence Chenoweth visited his wife at the Reid Memorial hospital Sunday. Mrs. Chenoweth was operated on Friday for appendicitis and is doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Slarp entertained the following Sunday evening: Mr. and Mrs. Howe Beetle, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Rudicel and children, Miss Mae Horn and Jack Downing.

Railroad men here today agreed that their attempt to obtain an- average increase of five per cent in freight rates from public service commission will come to, a head sooner as a result of the recent repeal of the maximum freight rate laws in Ohio.' The prediction has been made that the freight rates In Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Western Pennsylvania : will undergo a re-adjustment in the next three months. ,,
