Warren is captured and dragged to a deserted house by the crooks. The crooks are captured and it transpires that the thief is a twin brother of Blaine's. Warren and Bernice announce their engagement. artist, who has made a success much through the self-sacrifice of his wife, is induced by Leo Lechmeer to paint the portrait of Julie Duval, a Parisian actress. Leechmeer becomes interested in the wife, and while Rex Is at the studio with Julie, Lechmeer spends his time with Edith. When the portrait is finished, Julie throws herself in Rex's arms, believing him to be in
loe with her. She is wild with rage when he tells her that his admiration is only that of the artist. To avenge her injured pride she throws a bottle of etching acid in his eyes, blinding him, then leaves the country. Rex manages to summon Dr. McVicar, to whom he tells the truth, but when the doctor makes it known that his sight is gone. Rex exacts a promise that he will not tell Edith the real cause, -but will let her think it an accident.

MONDAY. "The Cliff Girl" Walter Grant, a young geologist, is beloved by Margot, a wild girl of the cliffs. Grant, however, is betrothed to Alice Hazen, a society girl. His engagement is more the work of match-making parents than a real romance, and Grant, in his heart, never has loved any woman. Margot's father, Basil, loses his life by falling from the cliff. Left alone, the
girl attaches herself with childlike devotion to Grant. They lead an idyllic
life. She cooks his meals, and he teaches her to read and write.

The latter squeals on his pal to the police. After Clancy's arrest, McRae and Mary go west. They squat in a shack on the edge of an orange grove and McRae makes a living by stealing the fruit. He is discovered by John Hildreth, owner of the grove, whose son, Henry has met Mary and has fallen in love with her. Being the wife of, Clancy, however, she has discouraged him.

In the scene pictured above, Irving Cummings, the famous leading man who has such a host of followers among motion picture fans, is shown driving his motor car in a desperate race with a Southern Pacific express train. This scene in full forms part of the widely heralded picturized romantic novel, "The Diamond From the Sky," now being filmed by the American company and announced for release through the Mutual exchanges on May 3. Lottie Pickford plays the lead in this $20,000 prize production. This ' charming young actress, a sister of Mary Pickford, is supported by a cast which includes not only Mr. Cummings, but such justly popular players as Williap Russell, Charlotte Burton, George Periolat, Eugenie Forde, Lillian Buckingham, Orral Humphreys and W. J. Tedmarsh. "The Diamond From tLe Sky" won a ten thousand dollar prize in a contest in which 19,000 - manuscripts were submitted. For a solution to the story, another prizj of tea thousand dollars will be awarded.
