ALUMNI BALLOT MAY DETERMINE KELLYTFUTURE Earlham Graduates Vote on Three Trustees for Places on Board Faction Opposes President.
Balloting by mail for the election of
three trustees of Earlham college as representatives of the Alumni associa
tion has begun. To every member of
the alumni a ballot has been sent.
The marked ballots are already being
received at the college and -will be opened and counted at th Alumni meeting at the close of the college term, this month. Possibly the question of whether Dr. Robert L. Kelly remains as president of the college or is ousted from that office -will be determined by the vote now being taken. If the anti-Kelly members of the alumni are successful In electing three of their candidates the faction which is opposed to the present administration will have the necessary two-thirds majority on the board of trustees, ten to five. List of Candidates. The ' candidates for trustees representing the alumni, the three receiving the most votes to be lected, are as follows: Atwood L. Jenkins, '91, Richmond, Ind.; Allen Gurney Mills, '92, Qlencoe, 111.; Anna P. Birdsell, '95, Wadkill, N. Y.; Richard Warren Barrett, '97, New Yorks city; Mrs. Frances Moore Barrett, '89, Haverford, Pa.; Thomas Raeburn White, '96; Philadelphia, Pa.; Charles D. Marley, '99, Martinsville, Ind.; Elizabeth Harvey Cox, '86, Indianapolis; Alvin E. Wildman, '86, Selma, O. The alumni meeting this year promises to be the liveliest one held for years by that organization. There Is a very strong faction in the alumni association strongly opposed to the continuance of the present administration and its leaders will put forth every effort to have a resolution adopted recommending the retirement of Dr. Kelly. In the event the anti-Kelly forces fail to secure a two-thirds majority of the college board it has been announced that the presentation of the president's report on Earlham college affairs at the Indiana and Western Yearly Meetings will, in each instance, be the signal for inaugurating a fight against Dr. Kelly in those bodies.

CITY WILL IMPROVE PLAYGROUND FIELD
The play ground diamond is in for a good cleaning up, thanks to the president of the league, who has listened to the complaints of the players in the S. A. L. regarding the poor playing field and home plate. Tuesday night Mr. Bavis, president of the board of public works, and George Brehm made a trip to the play grounds and went over the diamond. The home plate was found to stick up two inches from the ground, making it extremely dangerous for a base runner to slide into the plate without danger of spraining an ankle or cutting himself. This will be remedied. The infield was also found to be in bad condition and Mr. Bavis promised the league head that he would do all In his power to have the matter attended to. In case all the improvements which the grounds need are arranged for, the S. A. L. players will feel much gratified.
