Because of the privilege which permits prospective racers to file their names up until a half hour before the races begin, there have been no entries and it will not be known how many motorcyclists will compete un til the events are actually under way. I Most of the members of the local club are refraining from announcing their intentions to participate in the races but many are expected to enter. Any member of the Federation of American Motorcyclists is eligible to compete in the races and riders are expected from Eaton, Dayton, Indianapolis and other cities including Richmond. Red Marine has been on Lon's trail for the past two weeks in an effort to get Petey Kemp who belongs to Lon but as yet has not shown up for a game with the Eastbaven team. Lon slated this morning that he would in all probability let Kemp go to Red's team, although he would like to have liim if he could be depended upon to show up for a few games. The Easthaven and Vigrans will remain idle over Saturday so as to not offer opposition to the S. A. L. benefit came at Athletic Park. They will play their game off later in the season. An effort was made to have them play it off on Monday but as several of Lon's tram could not get away from their work on that day the plan fell through. While talking over the possibilities of a regular twirler for the club last Sunday Dick let fall the hint that Bacon might make ; a good man for the club but would go j no further in that direction so it is ta- j ken for granted by the club's officials that Bacon is to be approached this week with an offer to twirl regularly. He is considered a good man and was j wanted by Richmond last year but was offered better inducements elsewhere. Dick also has several other! men under his eye and promises to ' have a good one Sunday. Many Nova Scotia coal mines are now electricall equipped. $1485

CARAVAN OF AUTOS BOUND FOR RACES MOVES ON CAPITAL
INDIANAPOLIS, May 27. The city of Indianapolis has thrown away its municipal key and opened the door to the thousands of visitors who will throng its confines for the Indianapolis 500-mile race, Saturday, May 29. Hotels are making preparations for the greatest crowd in history, while the local newspapers, and the speedway, are conducting room bureaus to take care oi the overflow. No one who has never been to the Hoosier capital for a 500-mile contest can realize the frantic activity that ensues with this event. Regular business ceases and the entire city transforms itself into a carnival. Swarms oi motor cars fill the streets night and day, threading packed masses of humanity that flow down the thoroughfares like a mighty torrent. The babel of countless voices fills the air, pierced by the shriek of sirens and the clamor of exhausts. A 500-mile race, as run at Indianapolis, is one of the mvforgetable experiences of human life. The town is just the size to give the proper setting to the contest. It is not submerged ! or. obscured by other events that may be going one, but rules as the supreme feature of the day. In this respect it will always stand unrivalled. BOOKS WESTVILLE NINE White's Reserves will offer for the next attraction at Ratliff's Park Sunday. May 30, the Westville squad of ball tossers. The Westville aggregation is considered a pretty lively organization this year, having defeated the Boston team Sunday by the score of 5 to 2. Chester Surface of New Hope will do the twirling for the visitors. Roy Schattel will be back at his old place, the center garden, for White, while it is probable that a few of the old players will also fall in line. WANTS HOME GAMES An independent team composed of several veteran and amateur players of Rushville has organized to play at home when the Rushville team is out of tvn. The team has not yet been named but is looking for fast games. Nick Tompkins will captain the team and play the third sack.
