OPINION LEANS TOWARD BRICK FOR A STREET Residents Take Unofficial .Vote, to Test Sentiment Might Like Asphalt but Prefer Better Material. Brick was favored in an Informal

vote on paving material taken by

twenty-seven resident property owners

of South A street who met in the Sun

day school room of the First English

Lutheran church last night. The bal

lot resulted 18-7. The vote was taken more to learn

the sentiment of the residents rather than as a deciding act before appeal

ing to the city officials. At least eight

property resident owners were not present and the vote of others who were absent was recorded through friends representing them. Vote Favors Brick. Several of those who voted in favor of paving A street with brick, expressed their preference of an asphalt street, because it was noiseless, probably cleaner and undoubtedly more beautiful. Because they wanted a durable street and believed that in ordering brick it would meet this condition claimed for it, they favored brick. Much traffic passes over South A street, they said, more than any other street in the city with the exception of Main street. Others who preferred asphalt to brick, voted in favor of the latter said that although it was not the most desirable, it was the most practicable. Dr. L. M. Gentle was chosen chairman.

Evils of Constipation. Those who are habitually troubled with constipation and who permit their bowels to go two or three days without an operation have little relish for their food. Their stomachs become disordered, they have piles and kidney diseases. No one can reasonably hope for good health unless his bowels move once a day. If they do not move naturally they should be helped, and for this purpose you will find no better medicine than Chamberlain's Tablets. Obtainable everywhere. Adv.

RECREATION PLAGES RECEIVE ATTENTION OF CITY COUNCILMEN

Some basis for inaugurating a movement to provide a sufficient number of playgrounds for children and recreation places for young men and women was outlined in a report submitted to council last evening by the committee on public property and grounds. This committee met with the school board and learned that the latter body was heartily in sympathy with the movement. Council was Informed that the school board is to provide playgrounds for children at Whitewater, Warner, Hibberd and Baxter schools, and the committee suggested that the board bf public works co-operate with the school board to provide recreation places for young men and women at Roosevelt field in Glen Miller park, and the West Richmond dump and the Joseph Moore school and the old tannery grounds on South Second street. This report was adopted without a dissenting vote.

would be favorable to the project. Discussion of the argument raised by the representatives of the Light,

Heat and Power company, that the city has actually purchased the plant and that all that remains to be done is

for the city to pay the price established by the commission, was strictly

tabooed at council meeting last even

ing. The subject was not referred to once, directly or indirectly. After the

council meeting several of the mem

A Woman's Hair and The Story It Tells.

SET DAMAGE CASE

EATON. O.. May IS The $10,000 damage suit filed by John E. Mings against Joseph Poos has been assigned for hearing June S in common pleas court. Mings was employed by Poos in a grain elevator when he was caught in a power belt at the defendant's elevator and suffered injuries, for which he seeks to be given damages.

Somebody has said that a woman's teeth are milestones indicating her age, but a far more important feature indicative of years is the hair. Many a woman has kept her youthful appearance long past middle life because of proper care of the hair, and in this care the first considerations are absolute cleanliness and a choice of the right shampoo. It is not advisable to use a cleanser made for all purposes, but rather always use a preparation made for shampooing only. You can enjoy the best that is known for about three cents a shampoo by getting a package of Canthrox from your druggist. Dissolve a teaspoonful in a cup of hot water and your shampoo is ready. After its use the hair dries rapidly with uniform color. Dandruff excess oil and dirt are dissolved and entirely disappear. Your hair will be so fluffy that it will look much heavier than, it is. Its luster and softness will also delight you, while the stimulated scalp gains the health which insures hair growth. Adv.

tie credence to the company's version of the situation. They also declared, that the big majority of their constituents favored the carrying out' of the purchase plan. , Councilman Stelnbrlnk, although doubting the authenticity of the company's interpretation of the condemnation section of the public utilities law, declared that he was not In favor of the city purchasing the competiting plant and never had been. "Why should the city pay out $200,000 or more to buy this plant when" it can, with little or no expense, force the

company out of the local field by pur

suing its present policy? he asked.

Councilman Howells declared that in his opinion the purchase of the L., ,H. and P. electric plant would be a splendid investment for the city, even

though the city secured "nothing but

junk."
