FORGES NAME ON FOUR NOTES TO MEET DEBT

Pressed by his debtor, Harry Forbes confessed when arrested today that he had turned forger in order to make payments on his milk route, which he said was necessary as his sole support of his wife and family. Korbes admitted forging the name of Charles Dietemeyer to four notes, two on the Second National bank and one each on the First National and the Union National banks. Forbes will probably be bound over to circuit court on the charge of forgery. The confessed forger told the police that he had purchased a milk route from Leslie Raper early in the year. He said Raper had been pressing him for the money. On Feb. 23 he forged the name of Charles Dietemeyer, who had taken and reared him as a boy, to a note on which he obtained $50 from thp Second National bank. A second note with the same forged signature was issued for $45 on April 14. The notes on the First National and Union National banks weue for $15 and $35, respectively. Forbes had paid off the note at the First National. He said he had hoped to pay off the others quietly without creating pny disturbance. Forbes declared that the milk route was the only source of support for his wife and family and that he had to raise the money to meet the insistent demands of Raper.

TWO BOYS ADMIT THEFT OF WHEELS

Walter Jacobs and Russell Lee, two fourteen-year-old boys, arrested for the tV'ft of a bicycle, ooiifVf oil to the po- ' 'a today that Jacobs was about to tteal a second bicycle at the high school when he was caught. The boys said they planned an extn&ive tour of the west. One of th bicycles was found yesterday hidden under brush near Thistlethwaite's fr.lh-. It was the property of Herschel Nicholson, 422 South Eighth street. The boys were I bound over to juvenile court as delinquent children.

A hat that could be most attractively worn above a youthful face is this of the palest of blue silk net, drawn over a frame of light weight wire. The brim is pinched into a slight peak at the front and sides and droops just a bit at the back. Forget-me-nots of blue velvet and roses of pink silk are laid in clusters on the brim. CABINET DISCUSSES COMMENTS QN NOTE

HE GETS ANOTHER CHANCE IN MAJORS

WASHINGTON, May 14. The cabinet meeting today was devoted to an analysis of the public reception of the President's note to German. Most of the cabinet members make no secret of their elation over the general satisfaction and acclaim with which the note has been greeted. Many telegrams were read commending the note and promising the president support in whatever action he may take. The cabinet had practically abandoned the consideration of all other matters.

ed to affirm or deny the report that it had been notified by the German foreign office as to the attitude to be taken by Germany in response to the note presented in Berlin today. It was suggested that the embassy was unlikely to make any formal statement during the day.

SMALLPOX VICTIM IN DETENTION CAMP

Carlos Ryle, colored, who was one of the victims of the recent New Castle smallpox epidemic, and who was returned to Richmond yesterday by the police because he had forgotten to pay a fine, is now an inmate of the local detention hospital, but probably will be released In a day or two. New Castle authorities say the man was fullv cured when released.

GERMAN ARMY NEAR PRZEMYSL

BERLIN, May 14. The army under General Von Mackensen which has rolled back the Russians in Galicia and from their strong position in the Carpathians is now before Przemysl, it was officially announced today by the German war office. Continuing their sweep eastward the Austro-German forces will attempt to recapture the city according to intimation in the announcement. In the western theatre the Allies at Ypres have been repulsed with heavy losses. The Germans have gained newterritory on the Ypres-Menen road. In the fighting at Carency which was evacuated by the Germans on Wednesday the Germans lost 700 men.
