S. A. 1. SIGNS SCHOOL STARS FOR TRYOUTS Porter and Hafner Connect With Dennis-Woodworth and A. S. M. Teams as Recruits. SATURDAY'S GAMES. A. S. M. vb Easthaven at Easthaven. Natco vs Vigrans at Playgrounds. Ad-Hill vs D. & W. Athletic Park. Weather permitting, good games should result from the play scheduled in the S. A. L. tomorrow afternoon. Two of the leaders of the league will clash for the Hrst time. The Natco's who ran up such an overwhelming total on the Easthaven crew last Saturday will face the slants of Pete Minier who is selected to dish them up for the VIfi;rans. Puckets out fit will find the going a little harder with this boy in the box as he last Sunday let the Williamsburg crew down with but three hits. "Beck" Harter will do the receiving for Pete. Pucket is depending Upon Al Mayer and Hascoster being in form and believes he has an even break. Karl Meyers will umpire the pa me with Howard Brooks who was this week appointed Official Scorer in the place of Harry McMinn, doing the scoring. , Seeders Get Started. Roy Schattel has been assigned to handle the game at Easthaven when last year's leaders, the Seeders, hook Bp with Lon Slack's hopes. The Seeders have not yet struck their true batting gait, getting but six bingles off the Ad-Hill's slabmen last Saturday but they promise to get next to Slack's twirler and boost their batting persentage. Slack has been getting in some good work this week and is figuring on winning his first game. Cooper will score the game. Two losers last week, the Ad-Hills and D. & W.'s will try it out at the Athletic Park. Stevens's combination was very weak on fielding last week and despite their heavy hitting could not bag the game as they did too much gift work. The D. & W.'s on the other hand found difficulty in connecting in their game and have added a high school star, Clarence Porter to their lineup. He is a promising youngster ! and should add hitting as well as neiaing power to the team. Anthony Hafner another high school boy will get a chance with the A. S. M.. Druley will catch for the "Tailors." Roy Peck will officiate and Karl Allison will score the game. LAME BACK. Lame back is usually due to rheumatism of the muscles of the back. Hard working people are most likely to suffer from it. Relief may be had by massaging the back with Chamberlain's Liniment two or three times a day. Try it. Obtainable everywhere, adv. PLAN FOR DECORATION S. A. L. Directors to Hear Reports. An Important meeting of the 8. A. L. i will be held tonight at the Y. M. C. A. j All officers and managers are requested to be present. The Decoration day program at Athletic park will be the business on hands. Committees which I were named sometime ago will be asked to report. As matters stand this will be the Only sport even in Richmond that day and a success from every point is practically assured. The Richmond club will not be in action has consented to the league using the grounds. RELEASE PUTTMAN;
OBTAIN APPELGATE Fans will have an opportunity of watching a new man work out with Kenny's team Sunday when Claude Applegate will be used in left field in the place of Ambrose Puttman. Puttmap has shown very weak at the bat where he was counted on as being a demon. Besides this he "appeared weak' on ground balls to the outfield in the games played here so Kenney and the club's directors decided that he was either not up to his regular form or that he had gone back and presented him with the blue slip. Applegate is considered a strong player and Dick can see no other angle to his playing but that he will make a good impression when seen in action. Nothing more has been heard from Novack and it is probable that Dave Knisely will work behind the bat in Sunday's game. McBriar by his great work last Sunday will continue at the hot corner. RUSHVILLE EXPECTS TO WHIP CAMBRIDGE If Rushville fans have the irght dope on the Rushville-Cambridge City game Sunday, the Wayne county team might just as well stay at home, forfeit to the Rush boys and save carfare and energy which would be expended in reaching the ball park and playing the game. Vordenburg will be on the mound for the Rushers, who believe they have the fastest collection of players that, ever represented the town. This will be the first chance that Rushville people have had of seeing two teams of the I. S. L. oppose each other. They expect to get a good idea of the brand of ball that th league teams will hand them later in the season. Turtle soup, Geo. PENNSY TAKES SCALPS OF RICHMOND FEDS
Bitter defeat administered to the Richmond Feds and another scalp added to the staff of the Pennsy All Stars. This was a game of 5 innings last night at the Athletic park in which the Feds suffered a 9 to 4 defeat. The brilliant work on the part of Kinsella, Fitzgibbons and Hasecoster, and let by Brunner, the star twirler, were the many features of the fracas. It was a hard fought game but superior playing on the part of the All Stars permitted them to bag the game, j The Pennsy All Stars will play thei
