WHEAT CLOSES WEAK ON CHICAGO MARKET
CHICAGO, April lB.Wheat made a fine start and a weak finish today. Strong Liverpool cables with prices unchanged, though one pence higher, in the face of the decline of the American market Monday, and with estimated decreases of 15 to 20 per cent in the Russian acreage, combined to lift values fractidhally over Monday's close, but local sentiment was bearish and free Belling followed. At the low point prices showed a decline of 4 to 6 c from yesterday's top, with the finish well toward the low point, with losses of 12c. Corn hafl detoned from the start and while there was a fair sale at one time value weakened and finished about the low point with net losses of lc. Liquidation was on In May oats and values were assisted in their downward course by free selling. Closing trades were on a small reaction from the low point with next losses of 12c. Provisions closed Strong.
