""Marmon cars were entered In all

AVERAGE MOTORIST IGNORANT OF BATTERY An interesting fabt that has developed in connection with the arvertising campaign, of the Willard Storage Battery company now, going on In many national magaainesand newspapers is confirmation of their original opinion (hat) a large number of battery owners did not have any idea what a storage battery really is. Probably the average individual believes that electricity is something like a fluid that you pour into the battery and that it Is actually stored up there until used. As a matter of fact, nothing ' could be farther from the truth. A storage battery is a chemical apparatus and when an electric current is run through it either from an outside source or from the generator on the car when it is in motion, this current causes certain chemical changes in the electrolyte and lead oxides which are called the "active material" of the battery. Later on when you press the starter button or turn on the lights you close an electric circuit and immediately the chemical elements of the battery begin to change back to what they were before and while that process is going on, an electric current runs through the circuit and keeps your lamps lighted or gives the impulse to your starting motor.

STUDENTS PUT BAN. , ON TALES OF LOVE

English students in the high school senior class prefer some of the recognized masterpieces of American literature to popular romantic fiction which has been placed in an outlawed list by them. This observation has been made by Professor Null, head of the English department, who is conducting an elective course in which students are allowed. to choose their own reading. The only requirement in the course is-that each student read a certain amount of poetry, drama, fiction and essays. Each pupil then reports orally on his reading. Voluntarily the students agreed that some of the best sellers of the day were not worth while because they would not live as literature but would soon be forgotten, Poe, Longfellow, Hawthorne ' and Irving have proven favorites. Professor Null says reports indicate that the students, with few exceptions; have read several hundred more pages than are required for a passing mark! This, he believes, Indicates that the course is a success and is creating a

genuine interest in literature among members of the class.- Results from this experiment are expected to furnish valuable material for English courses next year.

j HAIR COMING OUT? j Dandruff causes a feverish irritation of the scalp, the hair roots shrink, loosen and then the hair comes out fast. To stop falling hair at once and rid the scalp of every particle of dandruff, get a 25-cent bottle of Danderine at any drug store, pour a little in your hand and rub it into the scalp. After a few applications the hair stops coming out and you can't find any dandruff. Adv.

This is the most Important Advertisement I Ever Caused to be Published Read Every Word and then Marvel! On a personal visit to Mr. Henry Ford I broached the subject of a possible August 1st Rebate. "Mr. Ford," I suggested, "Is there anything I can say to our people with regard to the Ford Motor Company's 300,000 car rebate plan?" "We shall sell the 300,000," was the quiet reply "and in 11 months, a full month ahead of August 1st!" "Then a refund is practically assured?" "You may say," was Mr. Ford's deliberate and significant reply to this "You may say that we shall pay back to each purchaser of a Ford car between August 1, 1914, and August 1, 1915, barring the unforeseen, the sum of $50. You may say that I authorized you to make this statement!"

What can I add to the above? $15,000,000 cash coming back to Ford owners! And to prospective Ford owners up to August 1, 1915, it actually means Ford Touring Cars for $490 less the $50 rebate! Ford Runabouts for $440 less the $50 rebate! What is there left for me to say? ADV. MANAGER FORD MOTOR CO.

ICE FLOATS DOWN WHITEWATER RIVER ONE DAY IN APRIL

With season approaching for ice books and similar worries about home cooling systems, the Ice company threw away twenty tons of ice, valued at wholesale prices at almost $100. The ice was taken to the foot of Sixteenth street and dumped Into the river. The water was still chilly enough to carry it a long distance before It melted, and there was almost an ice jam above the mill dam near. Twelfth street. A break in the refrigerating system, caused by boiler trouble, is assigned as the reason for the waste of ice. The water from which the ice was frozen was filled with impure matter and ammonia. ,!!

EYES OF ALL NATIONS

America and Germany are the greatest eye-glass and spectacle wearing nations of the world. Five Americans wear glasses to one of any other nation. Deplorable, were it not for the fact that blindness in America has decreased over 20 per cent since the advent of glasses, while in every other country of the globe there is an actual increase. Here we have at once a potent argument in favor of glasses and glass wearing. Germany is the short-sighted nation, and uses more minus lenses for the correction of myopia or short-sight than all other nations combined. France has one blind person in every 500 inhabitants a larger per cent of blind than any other nation, except China, Egypt and Spain. Russia has one blind person in every 1,000 inhabitants. China has more blind than any other country. During the first week's operation of an electric railway, twenty-eight natives were killed because of defective vision. America has but one blind person in every 1,500 inhabitants and this ratio is decreasing very rapidly. The little piece of glass placed before so many eyes has been the main cause of this decrease in acquired blindness. In no country has optometry the science of lens application for the relief of eye-strain reached the scientific perfect it has 1 America.

We will supply you with the new Pucktal Lenses. We have the latest Eye Glass and Spectacle Mountings. We. have .Kryptoks, .the new invisible double vision lens. We make it a feature to have anything, new that is better for you and your eyes. Eye examined. Glasses made and fitted. Lenses duplicated.
