GIVE HONOR TO BISMARCK
BERLIN, April 1. Patriotic demonstrations were held throughout Germany today in memory of Bismark, the 'iron chancellor," whose birthday this is. - Remembrance of the military achievements of Bismark at a time when Germany was plunged in war, gave to the ceremonies today an impressivenes8 they have not hitherto had. A wreath was placed upon the "iron chancellor's" tomb in the name of the army and the navy by the ministers of war and marine, expressing thereby "the inextinguishable thanks fqr the immortal merits of the great chancellor." x In the conclusion of his letter ordering the placing of the' wreath Emperor William said: - "I am firmly confident that the Almighty, against all enemies threatening the fatherland,' will . continue to protect the lives of the servants and the successors of the great Kaiser William I." Pictures of Bismark, draped . with crepe, were seen everywhere.
CONFIRMS SENTENCE
WASHINGTON, April 1. The , sentence of dismissal imposed by a court martial on John P. Marko, second lieutenant, has been confirmed by President Wilson. Marko was found guilty of having become violently drunk, He was was apointed to the military academy at St. Paul and graduated last year.
