UU, KELLY OPPOSES STRONG ARMAMENTS

Earlham President Addresses Members of Indiana Peace Society at Capital. Educational - features of any peace propaganda were cited by President R. L. Kelly, of Earlham college who wai one of 'the speakers at the Indiana Peace society sessions in Indianapolis last night. President William Lowe Bryan of Indiana university, retiring president of the society, was the other speaker. Dr. Kelly said: "The essential purpose of an organisation of this kind is educational. Most of us have not been actively engaged in the propagation of the peace cause. We believe in peace theoretically, and are- proud 'of our progress, slow as it has been, but if we are to accomplish anything we must have a definite - object, and agree on some

kind . of campaign. We should co

operate with other organizations, such

as the American School League, which distributes books and literature among

school children, in the Interests of

peace; the Women's Peace Party of which Jane Addams is president; the , Peace association among the colleges, which was originated in Indiana, and

which gives prizes for the. best ora i Hons on the subject of peace. '

"We hav not co-ordinated our forces

' with these organizations, and I see no

reasons why we should not. We should especially oppose the efforts of those people .who are seeking to convince the people that the United

States should increase its armament

The American League for Limiting

Armaments will provide speakers."
