SPEEDY FINISH SENDS MUNCIE HOME WHIPPED Play of Greeks Improves Rapidly After First Period When Fahrner's Men Threaten Defeat. Coming across with a great rally in the third period when the score stood 4 to 2 against them the Greeks battered down the Muncie attack and defense, making three goals and winning out by the score of 5 to 4. A fairly large crowd turned out to witness the game and was well repaid as they saw one of the fastest and cleanest games of the year. Lancaster Boots 'Em Out. Picking a star in the Muncie-Greek , setto would be a hard matter as no individual work "stood out" strong enough to call him the Star unless it was Lancaster's play in front of the cage. Hank prevented Fahrner from scoring several times when he slipped by the defense and came tearing down the floor toward the guardian of the local cage. Hank met him about a yard from the cage, booting the pill out in the most approved style. Edington, the hard hitting center of the Muncie five, got but few chances to get the ball on "Picks" and his driving for the most part was all wild although he did manage to give Lancaster a few hard chances. Fahrner played perhaps the best game he has shown before a Richmond audience being the whole thing on the visitors firing line. The defense of the visitors was also much stronger than in previous games as Houston, of Elwood, was in House's place at half back. This gave the visitors two old and experienced defense men who time after time would stop the Greek advance. They did it for two periods but could not hold out the last. Muncie Outplays Greeks. Things looked bad, very bad for the Greeks in the first period especially when Fletcher topped the ball giving it just enough force to get into the cage rolled lazily towards Lancaster and between his legs for the visitors' ' first tally. It was a very lucky goal. Fahrner added another Ave minutes later when" be got by the defense and slipped one in. Everything was Muncie in this period and the knockers were busy. Things began to happen in the secend period the game becoming faster with each minute of play. The teams appeared to be more evenly matched than ever and it was nine long minutes before cither side could score. Here came Vic, right from his own goal going by the visitors as if they were tied. Getting within shooting distance of the visitors' cage he handed Alliscn a beautiful assist and the score stood 2 to 1 in Muncie's favor. Just 1:24 minutes later Oesting, not to be outdone by his defense mate, pitched one behind Poland, for the Greeks second marker. The score was tied. The Greeks were outplaying and outfighting the Muncie five at this stage of the game. Fahrner put his team one to the good just 34 seconds later. Muncie held this slender lead for the remainder of the period. The third period was the best period of the entire evening with the Greeks staging their own feature ac. "How to Do It When the Doing's Good." Speedy Fahrner was the first to score making the score 4 to 2 in his team's favor. Then it started. Lefty Bulla broke away from his affectionate friend and let loose with one of his cannon ball shots which went straight and true into the corner of Poland's cage. Allison came right back with two more in 6:04 and :41 respectively and the old game went into the local game bag. A Test for Liver Complaint Mentally Unhappy Physically Dull. The battle was decidedly better than most of the exhibition games have been and the boys were given the glad hands by the appreciative fans who j like to see the game played right i whether the results count In the leaj gue standing or not. I Bayer got into the fray with the I Seeders for the second time this sea son going in the place of Quigley in the second period and although "Dutch" did not get any thing in the scoring line, he went pretty good after being out so long. The noticeable fact of the play of both teams was the uncertainty in their passing due no doubt to their unfamiliarity with each other. Quigley players who willingly helped out the two teams played good games and it is to their credit to say that they are extremely sorry that anything that happened last week should be committed by them. There was no let up in their game last night. Snavely stayed in his cage and tried hard. Geyer and Clark scored for the Smokes in the first period while Fry and Qnigley put one apiece behind Geyer. Minor got away with one of his long shots to start the second period putting his team one to the good. The lead was shortlived as Abel and Clark scored one apiece for the Smokes. The Seeders put the game on ice in the last period making five while the best the Smokes could no was one. Quigley and Clark starred. MUNCIE TEAM COMES Roach to Send Meranda and Kinder in Game. The Muncie "Y" team comes to Richmond Saturday night for a return game and promises to give -Roach's men a warm argument. In the game played earlier in the season Rich mond jipsed out the Magic City team by one point, which shows how evenly the two teams are matched. Roach, believes, however, that more than one point difference in the score will not show, up. in this game, as he believes his team is much farther advanced than in the former game despite the loss of Jones. Meranda and Kinder will probably take turns at the forward job formerly handled by Dismal and should give a good account of themselves.

NOHR PLANS REPAIRS TO PUT PLAYGROUND TRACK IN CONDITION
Physical Director Nohr, of the public schools, announced today that the public playground would be repaired at once to be In shape for the students when the weather permits outdoor sports. The baseball diamond was in bad condition last season and , with the wear and tear given it is in miserable condition by this time. New filling will be dumped on the diamond and a thorough packing given it. A new rubber home plate will be purchased. The track will be steam rolled. The track . is a good one and when prepared high school track candidates can use it instead of going to Reid Field. Superintendent Giles and Nohr are planning to make the coming summer the busiest ever at the playgrounds. Besides these improvements it will be necessary to re-grade the tennis courts' and put up a retaining wall on the high school courts. Nohr plans to lay special emphasis on inter-group athletics among the high school students and to create interest will offer cups and medals to the winners. Indoor baseball will be started next week in the school gym, and as soon-" as the weather permits the baseballites will be taken outdoors. There will be nothing doing with Cincinnati teams this season, states Nohr, as the expense attached is too great for the athletic association to stand as as far as a trip to the Ohio city by the local team it is out of the question as the Cincinnati boys have enough competition right in the city. About Bronchitis. When a cold extends to the bronchial tubes it is called bronchitis. For this disease Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is excellent. Mrs. Will Harris, Zanesville, Ohio, says of it, "Last Winter I was bothered " for several weeks with bronchitis. I also had a dreadful dry hacking cough that clung to me so persistently that I became alarmed. Finally I had the good fortune to learn of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. It relieved the irritation of my throat and two bottles of it cured me." Obtainable everywhere. Adv. ATHLETICS TUMBLE FROM LEAGUE LEAD Braves Make Clean Sweep of Series Due to Green and King. King rolled the high score 192 in his first try while Green his teammate pulled down high total 536. INDOOR MANAGERS TO DISCUSS LEAGUE Physical Director Roach of the "Y," will call a meeting some time this week of managers of the six teams which will enter the Indoor Baseball League on the "Y" floor. The six teams were mentioned in The Palladium a few days ago will be tendered invitations to enter the league and it is probable that all will accept. The business of the meeting will be to get the proper financial backing and arrange a schedule. It Is Roach's aim to play the first game March 10. Women are constituted with a delicate organism and in nine cases out of ten mental depression may be attributed to an abnormal condition of the system, which expresses itself in nervousness, sleeplessness, backache, headaches, causing constant misery and as a result despondency. Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound, a simple remedy made from roots and herbs, is the one great remedy for this condition. It goes to the root of the trouble and overcomes despond ency. Adv. Lodging for the eighty-eight playerg who will participate In the district basketball tournament to be held here March 6 and 7 is being sought by high school students. Men of the Bundy Hall dormitary. Earlham college, have agreed to care for one team. Students will arrange committees to meet the visiting teams at the trains and escort them to their lodging places and acquaint them with the city. Yell practice followed the meeting. Bob Phillips was elected to lead supporters of the Red and White on the sidelines. NOHR CANCELS GAME The game which was to have been played between the Richmond and Muncie high school basketball teams at Muncie Saturday night has been called off by Coach Nohr. This action has been expected since the Muncie team gave the locals a drubbing on the Y. M. C. A. floor. Coahr Nohr, at that time, was not satisfied with the treatment his team received and he did not care to run the risk of having some of the men injured by putting them in another game against the Muncie boys. HIGH SCHOOL BOWS BEFORE COLLEGIANS High school basketball five last night succumbed to the Earlham Freshfes on the high school floor by the score of 28 to 24 in a rough and tumble affair. Baldwin proved too much for the high school guards, making several pretty goals from the field. Laning was not in the game and Pitts was moved up from guard. Brown and Porter showed best for Nohr's men. SCALDED CHILD WILL RECOVER . Marjorie Edgerton, three and onehalf years old, who was scalded Friday at the home of her father, J. O. Edgertown, township trustee, is improving. The little girl's right limb is most seriously injured and causes much pain but indications are that she will recover within a short time. TRADE PROSPECTS ARE ENCOURAGING Improvement in business since de pression reached low tide several months ago has been gradual. Confi dence has been restored and unless al! signs fail, the country is scheduled for a boom almost unparalelled. In order to overcome the depression that attacks a person in poor health it is necessary that particular attention be paid to the Stomach, Liver and Bowels. These organs are the controlling power in all matters pertaining to health and there is nothing will make you feel "so blue" and discouraged as to be without appetite to be subject to spells of headache, indigestion, dyspepsia and biliousness or to have constipated bowels. Nature never intended anyone to be in such a condition and the only way ' to improve matters is to give neces-1 sary aid promptly. This suggests a trial of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters, because it has an established reputation as a tonic and appetizer, and will be found very helpful in any Stomach, Liver or Bowel ailment. It is well known as a real "first aid," and for over 60 years has held a permanent place in thousands of homes. JOHNSON-WILLARD GO
AT JUAREZ DUBIOUS OPINION OF SPORTS BY LEWIS T. MATSON, Staff Correspondent The International News Service. Ei PASO, Texas, Feb. 23. Despite tb statements of Jack Curley, the pro moter and those interested with him, that the fight will surely take place, there is a growing conviction that the championship battle between Jack Johnson and Jess Willard will not be fought at Juarez. . The reason is plain: Jack Johnson is afraid to come to Mexico. He doe3 not want to be returned to the United States to answer the white slave and fugitive from justice charges holding over him. He believes he will be convicted again and face a term in prison. The fact that Johnson hinted that Havana would be a good place for the title bout to be. (decided bears out this contention. The big black knows he is safe in Cuba and he knows he may not be so in Mexico, especially in Juarez with only a bridge separating him from that country and the United States. The announcement by Curley that the fight may have to be postponed is taken, by those on the outside to mean that the promoter is rather dubious about pulling off the big go. He insists that if the fight is postponed it will only be for a week or so. STAMP OUT RABIES There have been no further reports of animals showing signs of rabies in Webster township, and it is believed that the affected dog captured last week was taken before the malady had been transmitted to other animals.
