E. B. Knollenberg was the census taker and Mrs. W. H. Romey represented the old black mammy who could not give correct answers to his questions. A piano solo was given by Miss Juliet Nusbaum. William Romey Jr., sang a solo. Rev. E. G. Howard gave an address on the "Life of George Washington." He told of his personality and general appearance of the care and detail that he gave to every item of his personal attire. The respect which Washington had for religion was showed by extracts from his farewell address. The guests were escorted to the Sunday school room and served with cherry pie and given souvenir hatchets with "C. B. B. C. 10" inscribed on them. R. R. VanSant had charge of the luncheon and was assisted by twelve women of the class dressed in colonial stylo. . Members of the Bible class of the Second English Lutheran church were guests of the evening. The Best Ccugh Medicine. When you have a cough or a cold you wnnt the very best cough medicine obtainable. as you are, but as he mounted up he became the object of s world's desire. "Washington is great and loved today, not because' he made history, but because history made him. Napoleon and Cromwell made history, but the man whom history makes is great because he represents the hopes and aspirations of a mighty people. "Boys! There are two or three things that come to you through the life of Washington. In the first place his work stands for that movement that placed the power of the government in the hands of the people. In ten years from now these boys at this table will be voters. If your ideals are high, the government will correspond with your ideals. Under our form of government it is possible for every boy here to become the president of the United States. "There is no class or nationality

that dominates our presidency. We are the great melting pot of the nations. Sixteen of our presidents were sons of planters and farmers, three were sons of merchants, three were sons of preachers, two were sons of lawyers, one the son of a statesman, one the son of a jurist, one the son of a tanner," and one the son of an iron merchant. Nine of them did not have a college education. They represent all professions and all religious. "George Washington epeeds to you across the ages tonight, and yours is the divine right of administration. The state is the power that dominates .our desires." In closing, Dr. Hall paid a glowing tribute to Indiana. He said, "Indiana is one of the fairest spots in this fair land. Her skies rival those of Italy. Her soil is the most fertile, and her crops the best. Her people represent the best classes of all peo

ple. She ranks seventh in the production of coal, ninth in the production of petroleum, eleventh in minerals, tenth in value of farm lands. She has the second largest railroad center in the country and the largest interurban center in the world." Meaning of Hoosler. The warmth and beauty of Hoosier hospitality were expressed in a clever use of the letters in the name "Hoosier." "It is a wonderful word," said Dr. Hall. "H heralds happiness, hating hypocrysy, humbling haughty hearts, heeding honor, hallowing homes, husbanding harvests. Double O oozes optimism, oblivious of opposition, orgininating opportunity, ordaining overflowing opulence. S signifies sane serious sentiment, sanctifying sorrow, securing scientific service, singing salvation's songs. I indicates intelligent idealism.lncited immortal imagry, insuring illuminating inspiration. E expresses energetic,
