LODGE GIVES JEWEL TO VETERAN OF WAR Wayne Chapter No. 17, 1. O. O. F., Honors Abram Runv mel of Cambridge City. CAMBRIDGE CITY. Ind., Feb. 23. At the regular meeting ot Wayne Lodge No. 17, I. O. O. F.. last Friday evening, Abram Rummel was presented with a veteran's Jewel. Mr- Rummel, a veteran of the Civil war, became affiliated with the Walnut Level Lodge, at Oermantown, September 11, 1865, a short time after his return from the war, in which he served three years, as a member of the Twelfth Indiana Band. In 1866 he became a resident of Cambridge City, but did not transfer his membership to this lodge until two years later. , The bestowing of the Jewel Is a rare honor as few men live long enough to receive It. A banquet followed the ceremony, and a time of good fellowship enjoyed. One other member of this same band, is Christian Spidel, of Germantown, who has been a member of the Walnut Level lodge a period of fiftyseven yean. Evils of Constipation. Many of the minor ailments have their origin in allowing the bowels to remain in a constipated condition. No one can reasonably hope for good health unless his bowels move once each day. If they need help you will find Chamberlain's Tablets excellent. They produce no unpleasant effect and are easy to take. Obtainable everywhere. Adv.

in the days of Washington, whenever it seems imminent that the dismemberment of the constitution will come to pass, that there will arise another
greav leader with prophetic vision who
will lcyd us aright and hold to that pricelesssherltage and in so doing, insure to pilerlty the sweet fruits of freedom that we in our age and generation have enjoyed. Must Maintain Standards. "May the spirit of Washington abide with us always and may the executive of our nation ever emulate him. Presidents may not rise to the full measure of his greatness, but they must not fall below his standards. "We need to invoke the council of Washington's life, character and courage. "In these days when our international relations are in many respects identical with the early days of the republic, the words propounded in that mighty oration of General Lee in the Congress of the United States over a century ago, were almost prophetic. In closing his eulogy of Washington, he said: '"His last scene comported with the whole tenor of his life; although in extreme pain, not a sign, not a groan escaped him; and with undisturbed serenity he closed his well spent life. Let liberty and order be inseparable companions, cultivate peace with all nations, rely on yourselves only, be American in thought and deed." People Hold Power. "Washington's conception of public duty was embodied in the great central idea of the declaration of independence the sovereignty of the people. Republicans for protection rely upon the citizens' respect for law. Unless law be sacred, a free government cannot endure. Although the articles of confederation were opposed by men

of the colonies . because of Inherent weakness, wise and patriotlo men who upheld them in constitutional convention, won when the vision of Washington the future held sway." Father F. A. Roell of St. Andrew's church made an address of welcome. He contrasted the Washington's birthday celebration he attended thirty years ago and the one last night. The first was held In a back woods school In a southern Indiana county when he was a young boy and making his first public talksand the second held in the most modern Catholio school building in Indiana, he said. The meeting was opened with a song of praise by the St. Andrew's double male quartet. All music was conducted by Prof. Rlchter. Following was a violin solo. "Lieversfreud," Kreisler, by Miss Blanche Luken, accompanied on the piano by Miss Anna Harrington. The number received much applause. Sings Patriotlo Song. Following Rev. Roell's address, Miss Leona Buening with a quartet sang, "My Own United States." The address of Mr. Lynch was the closing number on the program. Before leaving the hall, the 1,200 present arose and sang in unison, two verses of "The Star Spangled Banner." The audience was led by the double male quartet and the song added a final touch to the enthusiasm of the evening. After the meeting, Mr. Lynch was taken to the Knights of Columbus club rooms at Fifth and Main streets where he was entertained at a reception. He was met by a majority of the members. During his short stay here he was entertained by John Harrington, Jr. Mr. Lynch left for New Castle at a late hour last night.
What Thin Folks Should Do To Gain Weight. Physician's Advice for Thin, Undeveloped Men and Women. Thousands of people suffer from excessive thinness, weak nerves and feeble stomachs who, having tried advertised flesh-makers, food-fads, physical culture stunts and rub-on creams, rerign themselves to life-long skinniy ess-and think nothing will make them fat. Yet their case is not hopeless. A recently discovered regenerative force makes fat grow after years of thinness, and is also unequalled for repairing the waste of sickness or faulty digestion and for strengthening tho nerves. This remarkable discovery is called Sargol. Six streagthgiving, fat-producing elements of acknowledged merit have been combined i. this peerless preparation, which is endorsed by eminent physicians and used by prominent people everywhere. It Is absolutely harmless, inexpensive and efficient. A month's systematic use of Sargol r!iould produce flesh and strength by connecting faults of digestion and by supplying highly concentrated fats to the blood. Increased nourishment is obtained from the food eaten, and the additional fats thai thin people need are provided. Leo H. Fihe and other leading druggists supply Sargol and say there is a large demand for it. While this new preparation has given splendid results as a nervetonic and vitalizer, it should not be used by nervous people unless they w'sh to gain at least ten pounds of flesh. Adv.
