Sunday afternoon at S o'clock at the Hotel Weatcott, Lady Gregory will lecture on "A Possible American Theater." Lady Gregory appears here under the auspices of Miss Esther Grifin White. After the lecture an Informal reception will be held for all members of the Drama league and City Federation of clubs and all members of the audience. This Is the most important event scheduled for Sunday and will ! no doubt be largely attended. Miss Mary Bulla was hostess Wednesday evening for a. meeting of the A. N. C. - club at her home on East Main street. The evening was spent socially and with music and games. A luncheon was served. In two weeks Miss Hazel Mashmeyer will entertatn the club at her home on South Sixth street. A dance will be given Friday evening at the Elks' club by the members of the social committee composed of Mr. Harry Shaw, Mr. Harry Kates and Mr. W. R. Poundstone. There will be special dance music. The affair will begin at 8:30 o'clock. All members of the lodge with their families are Invited to attend. A silver tea will be given Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church by the members of a social committee with Mrs. Charles Flook as chairman. All ladies of the church are Invited to attend. A program will be presented. An Important social function for Friday is the party to be given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur King on South Fourteenth street for all members of the Progressive Literary society and their husbands. Several interesting entertainments will be planned for the pleasure of the guests. The King's Herald band of the First Methodist church will hold its regular meeting Saturday afternoon, February 20 at the home of the superintendent, Mrs. Edgar Hawekotte, 324 South Fifteenth street. All members arc asked to be present as a Thank-offering will be taken at this time. The Tourist club will not meet Friday evening of this week. The meeting has been postponed one week when Mr. and Mrs. Edgar F. Hiatt will entertain the club at their home, 19 South Eighteenth street.. Mr. and Mrs. John Deltz gave a prettily appointed dinner last evening at their home on North Fourteenth street, in honor of the birthday anniversary of Mr. Harry Coons. An elaborate dinner in several courses was served. Spring flowers and ferns were used in appointing the table. Covers were laid for Messrs. and Mesdames Harry Coons, William Sahl, John Deitz, Miss Mary Stahl and Mr. Floyd Heinavius. A card party was given last evening in the Red Men's hall by the members of the Protected Home Circle. There was a large attendance. Favors were given the fortunate ones. beautiful and impreesive was the ceremony which united in marriage Miss Adah M. Gardner and Mr. J. Nelson Noland of Richmond, Indiana, at St. Leo's church at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning, February 3. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Bertling, 429 Roosevelt avenue. A reception was held in the evening for 90 guests. The decorations were pink and white. Music was furnished throughout the entire evening. The bride was charmingly gowned in a crepe de chine and chiffon dress. A wreath of Hly-of-the-vallies confined her tulle veil. She carried a shower boquet of bridal roses and valley-lilies. Miss Katherine Leonard, cousin of i the bride, acted as bride's maid. She was gowned in a shadow lace and pink chiffon caught up with pink rosebuds. She carried a boquet of pink Killarney roses. Mr. Noland. was attended by his brother, Mr. Doris Noland, of Richmond, Indiana. The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Doris Noland, Sr., Mr. Doris Noland. Jr., and Miss Mary Noland, of Richmond, Indiana. Detroit Sunday News. Herminia Rebekah lodge will have a roll call meeting Saturday evening, February 20 at the Odd Fellows hall. A box social will follow and all members and friends are cordially Invited to attend. Many Richmond people remember with pleasure the visit of Lady Gregory to this city a few years ago at the time of the appearance here of the Irish Players. Lady Gregory is again In America and has recently lectured under the auspices of the drama league in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Cleveland and other league centers. She is expected to speak in Richmond on February 21 on the subject "A Possible American Theatre." The directors of the Drama league of Richmond cordially indorse her appearance here and are urging the league members to attend her lecture. Mrs. Abrahms was hostess Wednesday afternoon for a meeting of Section .Two of the Ladles and Pastor's Union of the Grace M. E. church at her home on South Twelfth street. The afterinoon was spent socially and with needlework. A delicious luncheon in several courses was served. A number of the ladies whose husi bands are members of the Moose lodge i enjoyed the card party given yesterjday afternoon at the Moose hall. I Favors were given the fortunate ones. The society people of New Castle are soon to enjoy a delightful evening ot music when Miss Mary Ann Kaufman, of Chicago, will appear in con,cert work at the Alcazar theater, March 4. Miss Kaufman, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Kaufman, of Richmond, needs no introduction to New Castle people, as in her visits here she has made many friends who will be delighted to have the opportunity of hearing her. Since her appearance in New Castle, Miss Kaufman has made a rapid stride in her work and is fast making her name faftous. After three years with

Madame Tecla Vigna, of Cincinnati, under whom she graduated. Miss Kaufman went to Chicago where she taught In the North Shore school and also sang In one of the large churches of Oak Park and In a Jewish Synagogue. Miss Kaufman will be accompanied by Mr. Edwin W. Glover, of Cincinnati, who Is director of the Orpheum club, one of the leading musical organizations of Cincinnati. After a few concerts, including one In Richmond. March 3, Miss Kaufman will go to San Francisco where she will sing in the San Francisco Symphony orchestra, which is quite an honor. New Castle Times. It was announced at the meeting of the Domestic Science association held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the parlors of the First Presbyterian church that Miss Mary A. Kaufman of Chicago, will appear at the high school auditorium, March 3, under the direction of the association. Miss Kaufman Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Kaufman of West Richmond, and a resident of this city until a few years ago when she began her studies. Since her residence In Chicago she has been gaining In prominence and will sing at the San Francisco Exposition. The tickets will be fifty cents with no reservation of seats. Mrs. Walter Bates is chairman of the committee in charge and it Is hoped that the auditorium will be filled to its capacity on this occasion. Proceeds will be turned over to the association and will be used for charity after all expenses have been met. The program will be announced later. Tickets were distributed at the meeting yesterday and as the recital is only a fortnight off the entire association will be asked to dispose of as many tickets as possible. No doubt Miss Kaufman's appearance in this city will mark one of the most prominent social as well as musical events of the season. Mr. and Mrs. George LeBoutllller will be host and hostess for a meeting of a dancing club Monday evening, March 1 at their home on South Fifteenth street. Section One of the Ladles and Pastor's Union of the Grace M. E. church met yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Trump, 2024 North F street. Several important business matters were considered after which a social hour followed and refreshments were served. Misses Martha and Ruth Scott played several pretty piano and violin numbers Wednesday afternoon when Section three of the Ladies and Pastor's Union of the Grace M. E. church was entertained by Mrs. George Miller at her home on North Tenth street. The hours were spent socially and with needlework. Refreshments were served. Members of a card club were entertained Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. George H. Eggemeyer at her home on East Main street. The game was played at several tables. The members are Mesdames W. A. Sample, C. D. Slifer, Charles Holton, J. H. Mills. William Seeker. Harry Kates, P. W. Smith, E. S. Curtis, John M. Lontz and Mrs. II. L. Monarch.
