DEATHS IN PREBLE
EATN Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the home of ,0. B. Eikenbeny over the remains of Catherine Farquhar, 80, who died Friday from the effects of general infirmities at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Wampler. of Bond HU1, Cincinnati. Funeral sermon was preached by. Rev. Charles A. Hunter, of First Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Mound H1U cemetery. Besides Mr. Elkenberry and Mrs. Wampler other children surviving are: A. L. Elkenberry and Mrs. D. O. Christopher, of Greenville; W. H. Elkenberry, of Marion, Ind., and Roland Farquhar, of Modoc, Ind. The deceased was a resident of this county many years ago.

CITY ADVERTISEMENT. Department of Public Works. OFFICE OF THE BOARD. Richmond, Ind., Jan. 25, 1915. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Notice is hereby given by the board of public works of the city of Richmond, Indiana, that on the 25th day of January, 1915, ' they unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 439, 1915. For the improvement of North and Smith Ninth street, bv paving the
roadway with one of the kinds of modern city pavements, to-wit: Concrete, brick, asphalt, creosoted wooden block, from north property line, of South A street to North E street; also the construction of 20-inch sewer in ' North Ninth street, from the present 20-inch sewer at North Ninth and A streets, south to Main street. Improvement Resolution No. 440, 1915, For the improvement of North Sixteenth street, by paving the roadway with one of the kinds of modern city pavements, to-wit: Concrete, brick, asphalt, cresoted wooden block, from Main to North F street. Improvement Resolution No. 441, 1915, For the improvement of North A street, by paving the roadway with one of the kind of modern city pavements, to-wit: Concrete, brick, as'phalt, cresoted wooden block, from North Fifth to North Sixteenth street. And of making by contract on the above named streets and at the owner's expense, all private connections with sewer, gas, water and other like pipes and conveniences, and of bringing said connections inside the curb lines of said street and outside of the line of such alley for each lot, where the same has not already been done by the abutting property owner or other person or corporation for the use and benefit of any such owner; and the declaration of such intention by the board 3hall be made a part of the notice given concerning such street or alley improvement as required by law. On default of any owner making such connection within the time specified, said board shall proceed to do so at the owner's expense, and such expense shall be a lien on the property affected and collectible in the same
manner as expenses for other street
and sewer improvements. And said work of making such private connections and bringing the same within the curb line of such street or outside of the line of such alley at the expense of the abutting property owner shall
be included in the general contract for the permanent improvement of such street or alley, and of making by con
tract and at the expense of every pub'
iic utility a careful and thorough inspection of all gas, water or other like pipes or conveniences and connections thereto in such street or alley and owned or used by any public utility and of causing to be made all needed or necessary repairs to all such pipes and connections, so as to make all such pipes and connections in a high
state of efficiency and in first class
condition in all respects, and the de
claratlon of such intention by the board shall be set forth in the published notice given concerning such street or alley improvement. On default of any public utility to Inspect and to repair any such pipe or connection thereto owned or used by it within the time specified, said board or other legal authority of said city shall proceed to do so by contract or otherwise at the expense of such utility, and all such expense shall be a lien upon the property of such utility used in furnishing or supplying service to said city and the inhabitants thereof and such lien may be enforced in any appropriate proceeding or method, or the full amount of such expense may be retained by said city out of any money it owes to such utility. And said work of inspecting and repairing all such pipes and conveniences at the expense of such utility shall be included so far as practical in the general contract for the permanent improvement of such street or alley, and bidders on any such improvement shall state the amount per day or other unit that will be charged each public utility for inspecting and repairing any such pipe, in the event that such utility fails, neglects or refused to do so. The board of public works of said city has fixed Thursday, February 25, 1915, as a date upon which remonstrances may be filed or presented by persons interested in, or affected by, said proposed improvements or either of them as above described, and on said day, at 9 o'clock a. m., said board will meet at its office for the purpose of hearing and considering any remonstrances which may have been filed or presented, and for the purpose of taking final action thereon.
