Perhaps the only friend the boy had was Bd Dunlap, the town bully, who took a fancy to the chrewd little chap and protected him on numerous occasions from the gibes, taunts and assaults of his more fortunate play fellows. I WEDNB8DAY. A prairie fire, the. burning of the old Marks mansion at Leona Heights, N. J., the race of a railroad engine piloted . by King Baggot, through a biasing forest and a strike riot are but a few of the features In "The Milllanaire Engineer," a two-reel railroad drama. Extensive preparations were made before this film was taken. Three companies of Universal actors went to Fort Lee, N. J., to burn down the Marks mansion, which has stood as the oldest landmark, near Fort Lee, for over ISO years. THURSDAY. While her husband fights for mastery In a llfe-and-death struggle, Berta, the mining camp's "craty girl," a role enacted with wonderful artistry by Cleo Madison, forces the revolver with which he husband's assailant would murder him, back against her enemy's chest and forces him to shoot himself. The scene occurs in "The Mystery Woman," a two-reel "101 Bison" drama, In which Cleo Madison and Joseph King are featured. The intensely interesting scenario of this

drama was written by that master

craftsman, Bess Meredyth, and is de

cidedly out of the ordinary run of

photodramas. FRIDAY. It's here! "After Her Millions." the wildest comedy riot that ever was per

mitted to escape from a producing studio. It's all jammed Into three

reels three reels of hi-larlous fun. Three reels of farce farce which makes one choke and gasp in a vain

effort to give expression to the laughter which runs over while Billie Ritchie, Pathe Lehrman and Gertrude

Selby are on the screen. It's no laughing matter to laugh one's self sick, but "After Her Mil

lions" literally makes one giddy headed with unrefined and unrestrained

mirth.

HEX No. 3001 ran wild the only thing between tne irves or zuu pas

sengers and certain death was a young girl's nerve. Think of It, you girls who are taught never to step upon a railroad train until the last revolution of the wheels has groaned Itself Into stillness,

fou who would not dream of jumping on the platform of a moving train, not syen If losing that train meant losing every thing that you held dear in life! Think of itl Here is a girl who dared to leap from a water tower to the top of a rushing express train. It didn't matter to Helen Holmes that It was dangerous. If she had stopped to think of It she would have realized that any one dropping on to a moving train was almost sure to be dashed off and killed. Did Helen Holmes care? Not' she. The girl telegrapher at Lone Point has had many daring adventures, In which she had learned that it pays to take chances. In this case the chance meant the lives of hundreds of helpless persons. It all happened because Billy, the engineer, and Rand, the fireman of No. 3001, quarrel over Helen. Rand tries to drown his anger in whisky and then, stealing a ride on a freight train, overtakes Billy's express, and, slipping between the trains, as they stop for water, he shuts off the angle coclt which controls the brakes. ' Billy, finding that the brakes do not hold, sends his crew out over the top of the cars to look for the trouble. They do not find it, and the runaway engine is beginning to get out of Billy's control just as they enter the dangerous mountain region. . Rniul. however, is clinging to the rear platform of the train. Overcome by terror, he drops off at the bridge, where a lineman Is waiting. He tells the lineman to send word ahead to the office, so that some way may be found to inform the crew where the trouble lies. Helen at the telegraph office gets tbc message, drops her instrument, niBhes out, climbs the tower andis oat over the tracks on the spout just as the express dashes through. She lets herself drop. Hor word saves the train. This is the most amassing of all the exploits of Miss Helen Holmes, the Kalem Company's railroad star, and makes the last in the series of "The Hazards of Helen" worthy the admiration which this remarkable series is receiving from all over the country and especially from railroad men, who know a brave cirl when they see one.
