Laat Nights' Resufts. Greeks. 4; Qulgleys, 3. A. S. 1; Smokes. 0. J One 'good and one fair game was played in the Richmond Polo league last night, the Greeks taking the Qulgleys by the score of 4 to 3. and the A. S. M. fire taking the l-to-0 affair from the smokes. An r her bumper crowd was on hand to c!u-tr the favorites, but the boys seemed tohave a tired spell and the tames were not as full of pepper as

previous ones. The Qulgleys probably showed more pep than any of the others,, playing a fast and desperate game from the first tap of the gong, and

keeping it up until the last. Their playing, however, did not bring the results and they were forced to take

the short end of the count, mainly

through the exhibition of goal tending shown by Lancaster, who showed to better advantage than at any time

this season. Hank was there last ev

ening and booted them out in regular

style. Iky Maughton was tne Dig man for the Pharmacists, playing his best

game of the season, and probably one of the best games he has ever shown on the local floor. Minor was also in

good form, blocking several plays at his goal with skill. Dink also made a beautiful drive from the center of

thfl floor, which zot by Hank for a

goal. Greeks Score First.

The Greeks were the first to score, Allison and Bulla taking the pill the

length of the floor, passing back and

forth, Allison scooping it m on a per feet assist by Lefty. Bulla landed an-

other fifty second later. Shortly after this he shot another in the netting only to have it roll out. Allison repeated the stunt a shoat time later, making the second in-and-out of the period. In the second period Haughton drove-back -of -the goal, the" ball hitting Fetzer and bounding into the Greeks' net for the Quigley's first count. Minor got the ball in front -'-f the Greeks' goal and shot from th

renter of the floor, making the two, thirty second later. The Greeks came to life again in the third period and put the game on ice. Allison scored tlrst, only to have Haughton tie it up three minutes later. Shortly after, Lefty landed another behind Snaveley, only to have it roll out, Allison scooping it in again, giving the Greeks their third win over the Pharmacists. Defense Shows Well. The stonewall defense of the Smokes rarne to naught in their game with the Seeders, who won with a solitary goal, that being caged by Quigley Just befor the end of the first period. It was well for the Seeders that they mada this one, because if they hadn't they probably would have been playing yet, as they did not get within scoring distance many times during the remainder of the game. All the Smokes needed was someone to make them a goal or two, as the defense more than handled its end of the game. Earl Crabb played a nice game at handling the Smokes' rushers with apparent ease, breaking up their plays right and left. Crabb. doesn't use his skates much, hut manages to get in front of the rushers in time to Mock attempts at goals. Fry played a nice floor game, but with Oesting playing all over Quigley his work was not" as effective as it Bhould have been.

QUAKERS SHIFT TEAMS ATTACK ABOUT CENTER

Whiteside Builds Plays

About Morrisch Instead of Logan Earlham Coach Expects Victory.

Earlham will meet Wabash tonight at the Coliseum with a crippled team.

but despite this fact. Coach Whiteside believes he has so perfected his ma

chine this week that the Little Giants will fall before the attack. The Quakers are not predicting, however, a large margin of vitcory. Johnson has not been at practice all week, and his absence on the defense will be felt. He has been the mainstay of the Earlham defense all sea. son, and he probably will be in the game next week against Indiana. Meeks, who showed up well in the short time he was in the Wittenberg game, will be played by Coach Whiteside in Johnson's position at guard The varsity was pitted against the Freshman team Wednesday afternoon and showed some improvement over the playing against State Normal and Franklin last week. All week Coach Whiteside has been attempting to drill into his men better team work and more accurate goal shooting. Deficiency in both these apartments was the cause of the defeats last week. He hopes "by centering more plays around Morrisch, working together with Winalow and Logan, to present an attack which the Little Giants will have difficulty in solving. As a curtain raiser to the big game, the Earlham Freshmen, who have been coached by Earl Rowe, captain of last year's team, and stare of the Hoover Bond fire, will play Fairmount academy, which has one of the strongest teams in the state. The Freshmen will line up as follows: Forwards, Baldwin and Spencer; center, Ewlng; guards, Hoskins : and Calvert. Teraplin Kelsey and Williams will be held in reserve.

Roach's men, however, are playing a much better game that when they 1st stacked up agoin the Dayton fiv., and promise to have a nice surprise package in reserve. After the experience of Roach last week, he will take no chances on this game, and will Htart with his regular line-up, Laning and Jones, forwards; Roach, center; Parker and Schepman, guards. GIBBONS WINS BOUT FROM JIMMY CUBBY

BY LEASED WIRE. MILWAUKEE, Jan. 22. Mike Gibbons of St. Paul, won from Jimmy Clabby of Hammond, Ind., middle

weight champion, by a shade in their ten-round bout at the Auditorium last night, acording to the almost unanimous verdict of newspaper men who were at the ringsid.

Clabby was not up to his form at

any time, and to some of the sport

writers it appeared mat ne was treating the bout as a joke. Gibbons won by only a shade, but

was clearly the winner. He did the

cleaner work all the way, was willing to stand up and battle in a real champion's style.
