OFFICERS BACK JOHN MUELLER ON KI3 RECORD Anderson and Bowman Declare tAtacks Against Engineer Will Cease Many Firms Bid. Albert Anderson, president of the board of county commissioners, and Auditor Bowman said today they placed no credit in the attacks against John W. Mueller, county bridge engineer and believe they will not be continued. Both men declared it is an attack cause the dismissal, of Mr. Mueller bridge engineer and the manner in which it has been carried on throughout the territory in which Mr. Mueller acts, without revealing the author, Indicates that it Is without merit. "In the two years I have served as a county commissioner I have never heard a word against the plans Mr. Mueller prepared for our bridge construction," Mr. Anderson said. "It would have been revealed before this time if he was connected with the Pan-American Bridge company or a bridge contractor's trust. "We have refused to consider certain bridge plans not drawn by Mr. Mueller at times because they lacked the engineering finish which he gives thorn. Some of the companies which j have offered their own plans have submitted styles which look crude instead cf ornamental. "Our larger bridge contracts of late lave gone to the Burke Construction company and to I. E. Smith, an in dependent contractor. The smaller :nes in many cases have been scat tered among a number of local build' ;rs. I believe this is the case be ;ause the two companies are the only ones which have capital enough to handle larger contracts and the small sr contractors are hampered because jf financial difficulties. "As far as the detail of the south Bide bridge plans when we are ready for them, is concerned, the commiss loners and the contractors know they can submit their own plans and if they can show plans which suit us better than Mr. Mueller's we will take them, providing their price is right. I do not believe any further attempt will be made to remove Mr. Mueller from supervision of the south side bridge. Competition is Strong. Auditor Bowman declared he has faith in the bridge engineer and be iieves Wayne county Is being satisfac torily Berved. "As far as any attempt to stifle competition is concerned, I can say that in my three years as auditor, I have always noticed that there are plenty of bridge competitors, the bid ding is spirited and the competition is strong," Mr. Bowman said. "I have never had a word of complaint against Mr. Mueller from any contractor and I see no reason for the attack on him. I believe this will not be con tinued"" SALTS IF BACKACHY AND KIDNEYS HURT Drink lots of water and stop eating meat for a while if your Bladder troubles you. When you wake up with backache and dull misery in the kidney region it generally means you have been eating too much meat, says a well-known authority. Meat forms uric acid which overworks the kidneys in their effort to filter it from the blood and they become sort of paralyzed and loggy. When your kidneys get sluggist and clog you must relieve them, like you relieve your bowels; removing all the body's urinous waste, else you have backache, sick headache, dizzy spells; your stomach sours tongue is coated, and when the weather is bad you have rheumatic twinges. The urine is cloudy full of sediment, channels often get sore, water scalds and you are obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night. Either consult a good, reliable physician at once or get from your pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass uf water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with llthia, and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to neutralize acids in the urine so it no longer irritates, thus ending bladder weakness. Jad Salts is a life saver for regular meat eaters. It is inexpensive, cannot injure, and makes a delightful, effervescent lithia-water drink. (Advertisement.)

DAY DODGERS END PRACTICE ON PLAY Richmond Students at Earlham Expect Many City Persons at Show. The final rehearsals of "All-of-A-Sudden-Peggy," the three-act comedy to be presented by the Day Dodgers of Earlham Friday evening in the Earlham chapel, indicate that the play will be even more successful than previous productions. All of the leading characters are working up their parts in excellent manner. Miss Pearl Earnest in the leading role of "Peggy" is especially well adpated to her part and her previous experience in college plays at Earlham will assure the audience a clever interpretation of this character. Wallace Gifford as "Jimmie" is also showing up well in practice as is Leland Hadley in the comical role of "Archie." The play on the whole is different from those presented by the day dodgers in the past three years and is filled with comedy. A large number of Richmond people are expected to attend the performance which is an annual event for the Richmond students at Earlham. Special street car accommodations have been made to handle the crowds both before and after the performance. Reserved seats have been placed on sale at Dickinson's drug store for the convenience of Richmond people. TESTER KILLS MULE. Men Pay Homage to Mother's Friend "I am not surprised to observe the number of men who come into the store to purchase 'Mother's Friend,' " remarked a leading: druggist. It Is a happy thought to send hubby to the drug: store. "Mother's Friend" la applied externally over tha abdominal muscles. It is a gentle, soothing: lubricant, penetrates to the fine network of nerves beneath tha skin and has a marked tendency to relieve the muscular strain to which thesa broad, flat abdominal muscles are subjected. The cords, tendons and ligaments are Ihus permitted to Btretch without the corresponding' surface i Birain so oiten involved during the period ! of expectation. This in part accounts for ine enure absence, in many case3 reported, of nausea, morning sickness and other distresses, such as laceration of the epidermis so often the case when this gentle Jorm of lubrication is neglected. "Mother's Friend" has been highly recommended by a host of women who Know from experience and by men who know from observation. Write Bradfleld Regulator Co., 308 Lamar Bldg., Atlanta, Ga., and we will send you a valuable little book to expectant mothers. CITY ADVERTISEMENT. Department of Public Works OFFICE OF THE BOARD.
