The trick was accomplished last night when the heretofore undefeated Seeders were forced to take the short end of an 8-to-4 score in their game with the Greeks, to whom goes the honor of being the first team in the Richmond Polo League to score & victory over this fast five. Another upset was registered in the first game or the evening, when tht Quigleys, who have been improving right along, got a little "sassy" and look an overtime affair from the Smokes. This gives the Pharmacists their first figures in the pencentage column, and the Smokes are today retting in third place. Another bumper crowd was on hand to wi'ness the sport. Quigleys Jump Ahead. TIt3 Quigleys got the jump in the frst period when Minor shot a beauty frcm the center of the Hoor behind Ouycr for f he first score cf the evening This was probably the fastest period played by these two teams during t bo evening. At the end of the r.ecorul period the Quigleys still had nip to the good, Haughton counting f:r hln team, and Shallenberger scoring !r the Smokes. The game from the 5?art was fast and pretty strenuous at :imes, no less than three of the paricipants getting nasty cuts from reckpfs swinging of the "big ttlcks." Fry was the first to take the :ount, getting i deep cut over his cheek bone shorty after the festivities had started. The Seeders gave their supporters :he first chance to try out their lusty :ungs when Fry. dropped one in the 3reeks' goal after eight minutes of the irst period had been played. Their jubilation was short lived, however, as 3ulla got his new club to work just sixteen seconds later and tied the :ount. NELSON LONGS FOR "COMEBACK" BOUT WITH OLD RIVAL, WOLGAST Temperate Habits Keep Former Champion in Good Physical Condition Game to Core Bat Always Fought and Believes Old Speed Would Return With Some Training.
BY FRANK G. MENKE. NEW YORK, Jan. 15. Battling Nelson has been grossly insulted. "It happened this way," declared Bat. "When I was in ona of the big towns in. the west recently a fellow came to me and told me that there was a fijfhter in town who was a dead ringer for me. 'He's your double, Bat,' this fellow told me. That excited my curiosity, and so I looked up that fighter. I wanted to see what my face looked like when it was hitched onto another fellow. "Say, who do you think that 'double' of mine was? - Nobody else but Soakum Yoakum. Gee whizz! I may not be a thing of beauty nor a joy forever, but I certainly think that I'm a handsome guy in comparison with that Soakuni Yoakum. He's the limit honestly, he is. You can bet on it that if I ever catch up with that guy who claimed homely Soakum Yoakum looked like me or that I looked like him I'm gDing to soak that guy, and soak him darned good, too." Wc!gast Turns TrickAd Wolgast put the dinger on Nelson something like five years ago. Other lightweights have risen to the. heights since then, but somehow or other Battling Nelson remans as the idol of pugilistic fandom. Bat always gives the public its money's worth. Bat always fought. He never stalled. He was game to the core and he always fought fair. And the fans love Bat just as much today as they did when he ruled as king of the lightweigjit division. Bat, after a long lay-off is yearnWg to do a come-back. He is confident that he can beat the best man in his class, and he wants to scrap any man in the division. He's particularly anxious to swap punches with Ad Wolgast. "He beat me once, but he can't do it again," said Bat. "I'm still good. I'm 30 years old, but I've always kept in good shape. I've never dissipated. I admit that I sort of lost my speed some years ago, but I think that was because I fought too often. It sapped Corner Shots BY ALLIE. Heard after the game: "Well, sonny, how do you like it?" "Well, I've seen baseball, football and basketball, but me for the polo all the time." A foul is a foul, and should be called immediately upon the offense being committeed, instead of warning players that they would be called the next time. Able, Smokes' center, almost took the count when he was struck in the head by a driven ball off Iky Haughton's club. Oesting will be back in the Smoke's line-up next week, playing his first game against the Seeders. Stolle and Crabb both went good last night, the latter, however, marring his ganae by his rough play. with rapidity, and only stopped after they had added four more to their total, while the .Seeders had to be content with one. HOOSIER BOWLERS REVISE PERCENTAGE Owing to action taken by the directors of the A. S. M. EM-ROE POLO FIVE PLAYS AT MUNGIE An Indianapolis morning newspaper gave Freddie Long' who was seen at first rush for the Indianapolis team here Monday night quite a "blow" giv ing him credit as being a home boy who had played with all the former stars, Bobbie Hart, Eddie Higgins, et al. The Capital City five plays the Muncie aggregation at Muncie tonight and with the exception of Sipe will use the tame lineup as used against the Greeks Monday night. O'Brien who was seen at half with the Elwood team has bee nsigned to play in Sipe's place until he recovers from a sick spell. The result of this game is being watched with much interest by local fans. Delicious brown cakes made from Mrs. Austin's Pancake Flour

The Andover College system of athletic work which is being recommended by Physical Director Robert Nohr for the high school students, was endorsed yesterday by the board of student control. This system which has been adopted by large schools, provides for the physical development of every member of the school, rather than giving the greater part of the attention to the development of athletic teams. Instead of the boy who is already physically fitted to become eligible for an athletic team, receiving more than his share of the training, the boys who are not so endowed, will receive an equal chance to develop themselves. Principal F. G. Pickell is enthusiastic over the proposed plan, and has given it his full sanction. "I INDIGESTION, GAS OR SICK, SOUR STOMACH Time "Pape's Diapepsin!"
