BOARD CREATES OFFICE TO HAUL TRASH FOR CITY Divides Work of Street Commissioner and Puts John Heidleman Over Crew of Nine Wagons. "The board of public works has decided that it will be best to segregate (he work of the street department by eliminating the hauling of ashes from the duties of the street commissioner. "To this end we would advise you that a competent man will be put in charge of the teamsters hauling trash from the alleys and made responsible to the board; jou will therefore conline your efforts to the care of the streets, sewers and alley repairs and Mich other work as may come within the province of your department. "This act of the board is not to be considered as a reflection on your work but to relieve you of what seems to us to be an overload." Send Knolicnbcrg Letter. This letter was addressed today by

the members of the board of public j works to Street Commissioner Knol-i lenberg. A committee of the governing board of the Central Charity bureau under the chairmanship of Willard Z. Carr, is working out a plan to make the central bureau organization conform with the constitution. When the directors of the bureau were elected, they were chosen promiscuously according to their capabilities and not according to the organizations they represent. The constitution provides that four members shall be elected by the affiliated organizations, lour from the subscribers and four shall be appointed by the president. Six of the directors will automatic

ally go out of office Jan. 1 and six will retain office for another term. The se-! lection of the six new members will j take place at a meeting .(an. 4. In order to save confusion in the organiza- i tion in future years and to conform wit hthe constitution, some plan will be adopted by which all members of : the board next year will be formally ; identified as affiliated organization members, subscribers or president's ; appoint ees.
