RUPPERT- DEMANDS PLAYERS FOR YANKS

Consideration Halts Sale of New York Team as Magnates Haggle. BY LEASED WIRE. FRENCH LICK, Ind., Dec. 18 The American league has a big scheme afoot, but until said scheme reaches the popping point no formal announcement of the sale of the New York Yankees to Colonel Jacob Ruppert and associates vill be made. This much became known here today during the secret meeting of Ban Johnson, Charles Comiskey, Colonel Ruppert and Tim Huston. These notable gathered for the express purpose of closing up all details incidental to the transfer of the Yankee stock rfom Frank Farrell and Bill Bill Devery to the new owners. TJiere is a lot of guessing as to the cause of the delay, but the truth of the matter is that Ban Johnson is determined the Yankees must change bands, and wants Ruppert to take over the holdings, and, on the other hand, Ruppert is more than willing, but is holding back until the American league formulates some definite scheme to offer him strength in the way of playing material. If the plan goes through several clubs will contribute playing strength to the weak Yankee outfit, and in this way the Gotham club will be in a position to combat the Giants, who, because of their always being at. the top of the National race, manage to get the cream of New York's attendance.
