THE RICHMOND PALLADIUM AND SUN-TELEGRAM, MONDAY, DEC. 14, 1914.
Social Calendar
To All Richmond Women Will you help the municipal Christmas tree committee bring Christmas cheer to the poor children of this city? The object of this movement Is not to provide food and clothing: for these little ones; that relief will be provided by the recognized charitable organizations and authorities. What this committee desires to do is to gladden the hearts of unfortunate little boys and girls with things every child expects from Santa Claus on Christmas day, candy, fruits nuts and above all, toys. Have you any toys hi your home, toys which are la good condition, which you will donate? If you have, kindly send them to the city building, where they will be received by Mr. Edward MoNally or Mr. Scott Winters. Every toy that is contributed by you means happiness to some poor child. Do you know that there are some little girls In Richmond who have never had a doll baby in their arms; that there are some little boys who have never been the proud possessors of a set of blocks or a troop of toy soldiers? It you have no toys to contribute, money to purchase some will be greatfully received. Be sure to send In your contributions before the close of this week, because the city Christmas tree celebration will be held at the Coliseum next Sunday evening. If you have clothing for men. women and children which you desire to dispose of for charitable purposes, the municipal Christmas tree committee will received the same and place all such contributions with the Central Charity bureau to be disposed of as its sees best. Every Richmond woman is hereby appointed a member of the city-wide boosting" committee. Help us bring Yuletlde cheer to unfortunate youngsters. Children can starve for pleasures
the same as they can starve for lack , of food. Play Is essential for the prop-' er development of the growing child J and the children of the very poor must have something more than squalid misery. How would you feel if your little ones were greeted with empty stockings on Christmas morning? EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. Mrs. W. W.
