COLLINS PURRED JUMPAYEAR AGO Jhance Explains Move and Claims Major Leaguers Badly Demoralized.

BY LEASED WIRE. LOS ANGELES, Calif., Dec. 11 ?rank Chance, former manager of the S'ew York Yankees said today that, as ?arly as last spring it was an open secret that Kddie Collins intended soing to the Federals at the close of he playing season, and apparently the inly way to keep him in organized baseball was to give him the managership of the White Sox. 'It was the same way with Bender ind Plank," said Chance, "but there tvas nothing the organized baseball neople could do but to stand by and see those two stars take the jump. "The Feds gave the major leaguers hard fight last year," continued Thanee, "and they will put up even a Oetter scrap this year. Ward has plenty of money and is not afraid to spend it, and the Federals will just ibout wreck things before they get through. "The Federals are out to establish hemselves no matter what the price may be. The major leaguers simply ire demoralized; they do not know which way to duck. They'll do a lot ;-f queer things before the lit 15 schedule is ripped into."
